Harry Kim is a joke. A really really bad joke.

If anything has anything to do with firearms, even in the most symbolic or abstract way (such as the message of this artwork) he will be there to attempt to ban it. And I have to wonder if there is any identifiable characteristic of a significant portion of the people who "complained".

Here's his quote: "It's your right to do whatever you want with your wall, but..."

Where have we seen that "but" language before?

What if they painted a flower stuck in the barrel?

I was expecting worst from Kim. "You have to paint over the AR-15 (doesn't know the diff between AK & AR)".  Vs. what he actually said.

Not Ensign Kim! He was bad ass and smart unlike the mayor. Everybody liked him, unlike the mayor.
On a side note, the actor is a really nice guy too (can’t remember his name). I met him at ComicCon in the early 2000s.

Remember Defend Hawaii with the AR logo? You can only find it on a license plate holder on their website now. My guess is the surf shops probably threatened to boycott if they didn't scale back to mele weapons. Nobody said anything about Successfully Defending Hawaii I suppose.
I’m becoming clinically undepressed and thinking about beginning it all.

Way to lose their street cred for tough guy stickers.  I always wonder when I see someone sporting that logo if they actually own a rifle.

.....
The artist.
The whole thing was timed to coincide with the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival last week.
The festival draws thousands of visitors and competitors from all around the world.....literally.
It was broadcast and streamed live around the world.

I despise these shock stunts that scream "look at me". Like eating Tide pods, or those fake gun accidents on YouTube.

1 could argue, maybe if they had an AK, the land would not have been stolen.

King Kamehameha loved western weaponry and used firearms and cannons against his enemies (the enemies were not white).  My memory has grown foggy with age, but I recall lust for firearms and weapons as one of the reasons why we dont have any sandalwood left in our forests.

Learned about the Russian Fort on Kauai recently.  Well, more like listened to bits and pieces of discussion of history.  Anyways, from what I recall, a big part of the story was King Kaumuali'i's taking possession of a shipwrecked Russian vessel and a big part of that cargo was arms and construction materials that Russia was sending to Kauai with the intent to sell to Kaumuali'i.  Apologize in advance if I got it wrong, but that's what I recalls  While I am genuinely interested in historical events like this, I admit that I heard "Russian arms" and was immediately interested in what kinds of arms exactly.

We're all cut from the same cloth here  :).  Of Brook Parker's art, I'm not particularly an artsy kinda guy, but the subject matter and the fact that there are some things-that-go-bang pictured certainly elevates the interest level.

I like hula dancers
All my kids danced at some point in time....except one who despised it.
That kid ended up having the most guns.

Funny how life works sometimes,?eh?
