But he was a family man that made people laugh. He just made a wrong decision to provide for his kids.

....
It was the drugs
It was the bad people he hung around with.
He never hurt nobody
He wasn't really going to shoot anybody. It was just to scare people.
He came from a broken family.

I only took 2 years of Spanish.
But if that happened here with an off duty LEO there would be a civil suit brought by the family of the man shot. If the person was black...#GameOverMan. BLM Hawaii chapter would kick in headlined by Kaniela Ing

I saw the video last week, but didn't see the translation until the link posted above.  That the lady was an off duty officer and the guy was "rescued alive, but could not resist the wounds and died".

When I first saw the video, I was trying to see how the lady got her gun out and ready so quickly.  That was before learning that she was an off duty officer.  That was a pretty big bag too!

When posted on FB, the anti-gun trolls started ranting about how there was no need for violence since he didn't really intend to shoot anyone.   :shake:

Hawaii isn't a stand your ground state but is a castle doctrine state. She wouldn't have been arrested since she's an off duty cop at the time. I agree that the LEO would face civil action but I'm guessing the case would be thrown out before it began since LEOs are supposedly trained and given the directive to maintain the peace. I wonder if it was her own firearm or an issued?

So this guy isn't a threat, but any responsible gun owner is automatically considered a threat, or at least put under suspicion. . . gotta love the anti-gun logic.

Scary situation that can come up when least expected.  Situational awareness is key.  That was a bit too close for comfort for me, I'd rather get some distance and get close to cover before I start firing.  She was lucky to not get shot.  Takes a lot of practice to handle situations like this well, and even then things don't go according to plan.

Got some commentary here.

I didn't even know the bad guy got 2 shots off.  She's super lucky.  Maybe the step in caused the 2 shots to just miss her compared to is she fired from where she was standing?

The commentary/analysis shed a lot of light on that situation.  I wished the video had sound.  I thought she fired once, maybe twice, and didn't see the robber get off a shot.

Like the guy said, all in all, she did well.  Going to be lots of critics, but ultimately the robber was stopped and no innocents got hurt.

Things went down super fast.  Easy to analyze and critique now, but I bet when it went down, there were adults in the immediate area that had no idea what went down until after the threat was already stopped.  I had to laugh at the comment about when the lady decided to drop her purse.  Probably was one of the last things on her mind at that time.

One of the first things I noticed was the burst toward the robber.  At first glance, I actually thought the burst in helped clear the other lady and kid (not that she did it on purpose).  Yes, it did open herself up to getting disarmed.  One thing we train with handgun disarms is clear and control muzzle first, then after a take away, don't present it back out with full extension where it would put the gun in the zone for the attacker to get their hands on it.  That said, she won the fight.  Yes, she maybe got lucky that she didn't get shot, but she reacted and protected those around her.

Maybe she had extra mags in the purse or a bazooka?  When we go to Vegas, the Mrs. always holds my extra mags.  And she always complains.  "It's making my purse heavy".  So I tell her, "what if I'm out of ammo and need more?".  Then after the Vegas shooting, she doesn't complain about the weight anymore.
