AWESOME write up!

Some people feel uncomfortable of the thought of me cleaning or working on firearms in front of my children...

They wont be a victim of not knowing how to use and safely operate a firearm....  ;)

I will make sure to the best of my ability that it will not be foreign to them in an emergency situation... :)

I feel the same way when it comes down to an emergency out of the "ORDINARY"<<<<< Exactly

In a high scale emergency or catasrophe, everyone is gonna take care of their own first...

The perpetrator will take out the strongest threat in his way first then go for your loved ones....I don't think so ::)

To those who have a problem with it.....boo f*cken hoo!  i do it all the time.  I teach my boys about it now (3 and 5 years of age).  My boys have toys guns and I'm teaching them now at their age to always keep their trigger finger straight and off the trigger, and to never point at anything they don't intend to shoot.

It's pretty funny actually when ever I clean my firearms my boys (especially my youngest who's 3) will bring out all of his toy guns (nerf guns included) and proceed to wipe them down.  He'll display his collection on the table and tells me "Daddy Don't Touch".

Loved that!

I taught my boys to field strip a 1911 when young but strong enough to handle the springs.  Sort of took the forbidden fruit and mystery out of guns for them.

I do believe that the radical and crazy notion that the Founders meant what they said, is gradually soaking through the judicial system.

Just don't encourage them to light their farts. Plenty good videos on Youtube if you search!

The BO will solve itself once they get interested in girls.

BTW, I don't have kids. I just remember what I was like back then......

Teenagers and Gun Safety

Mahalo!!! Excellent article.   :shaka:

My kids (5,9 &13) see me clean my guns, reload ammo, and know that we have loaded firearms in the house.  And I remind them not to talk about daddy's guns with anyone that does not live in our house, just like the article.

My oldest has been to the range with me and I have pounded the safety rules into his head.  Even with his air soft guns.  "I know its not loaded." My response, "What is rule #1?"  Then I take it away for a month.
