Big Island Officer Fatally Shot

Very sad day. Can't imagine what his wife and kids must be going through. Much love to all the honest hard working officers out there and thanks for the risks they take to get these guys locked up where they belong.

The last time this criminal was in court because of a  parole violation, prosecutors asked for bail to be set at $20k, still very low for a flight risk.  The liberal judge said that was too high and set bail at $7k.  A few months later this piece of garbage kills a cop.  The evening news mentioned the judge's name, but I forgot who it was.

We should institute capital punishment.
No one is coming, it’s up to us.

Legislation should never be about depriving law abiding citizens of something, but rather taking those things away from criminals.

I agree. We are too lenient here in Hawaii.

I saw a bumper sticker on a toolbox that belonged to a retired judge....

"SOFT JUDGES MAKE HARD CRIMINALS"

I thought it was funny. ...Not so funny any more.

Saw an interview on the news with a mountain view resident. Said police knocked on their door soon after the shooting and asked them if they had firearms in the house bc shooter is loose in the area. They do recognize the value of being armed.
But person interviewed said they don't own firearms.

This story and that one about the LV Metro PD encounter.  Guys with long records and not petty stuff.  I think the roles judges have in these matters don't get as much exposure or scrutiny as I think they should.  #whojudgesthejudges

If he fled into the woods, yeah, I could see area residents at threat for the guy breaking into a home in the area.  From what I know of that area, the are pretty large gaps between residential areas and the brush/woods in that area is pretty nasty.

Does that family have firearms in the house?  If not, have them come out shooting next time they visit Oahu.

And hope they catch the guy.  In general, but also so that your family can rest a bit easier.

Should've known. . .  :worship:

But had to ask.  Many of my family on my dad's side own firearms, but I don't think many shoot.  I tend to concentrate on getting friends to shoot, but I really should be dedicating more time to taking family.  Many of them have interest.  I've taken my sister and her husband and they enjoy it, but they haven't expressed an interest in ownership.   :(

Judges should be held accountable if bail is set and the person commits another crime.  This way they make sure either the person is denied bail, or a amount that fits the crime.

I feel bad for the family left behind.
I'm on the big island and to be truthful, with the exception
of  extreme Domestic violence I would never call our Cops.
I refuse to talk to Cops unless I'm forced to.
"Do you have guns in the house" is about the stupidest question
they could ask. Supposedly all legal guns are registered,  they
know who has them,  so at some point they can confiscate them, when
the politics are right. if you have guns, not registered you aren't going
to tell them you have  them. DUH!
This is a BIG island. We have some very rural areas, where Cops never go and
strangers aren't welcome. Probably is where this killer is now.

This perp cannot last more than a few days without help.  If someone is providing food and shelter and he never goes out in public, it could be years before he is found, but he has to have help.  Right now everybody knows what he looks like and the $21k reward money is something a lot of people want to collect, myself included.

I am at a friend's place right off the main highway just below Kukui Camp Rd where the shooting took place.  More cop cars just passed by, siren and flashing lights, headed up the hill right now.

Hoguh we disagree on the president - fist bump on this one Ren.  I’d hook this guy up to h-power and auction off the privilege to throw the switch with the proceeds going to the fallen officer’s family.  Once we’re done, we just discard him with the rest of the trash.
