Anyone got one?

We were watching the outdoor channel and they had the Bond Arms infomercial on.  The wife thought having one would be cool, especially the 410 shotgun shells one.

Told her it's a total novelty gun, like the Chiappa.

I have a North American Arms .22LR 5-shot revolver derringer.  I changed the standard grips to a grip-holster that pivots to cover the trigger.  It provides a much larger grip when operating.

These guns are hard to keep a grip on when firing, but they are basically your last line of defense.  If your CCW gun is taken from you, or the derringer is all you carry, it's good for up-close-and-personal use.

I've been eyeing the Bond line for a few years. I really like the caliber and barrel length interchangeability.  If you live in rattlesnake or copperhead country, the 410 option is great.

You could also carry a Judge or Governor with more .410 cartridges loaded than a derringer allows.  If I'm trying to hit a slithering snake, I'd want more than 2 rounds to dispatch it.  You might be in a bit of a rush and miss.

The Bond appears to let you load .410 and .45 rounds.  The Judge/Governor accepts those plus .454 Casull.

I believe the Judge/Governor are NOT capable of firing the .454 Casull cartridge. The guns are not designed for that powerful a cartridge. I believe they can fire the .410, .45 ACP and the 45 Colt.

I never looking into getting one, but they seem to have cool designs (Patriot) and you can swap out the barrels with "6 easy turns of the allen wrench".  The infomercia had a competition shooter on and I saw her flinch.  She caught it and didn't fire.  So I made fun of my wife after.

They do seem pricey considering you can only fire 2 rounds at a time.  But I guess in the long run, you also save money on having to buy mags.

I was thinking of the Raging Judge.

Years ago I had a pretty little derringer, .357mag/.38 special.  Nice color case hardeining etc.

Never fired .357, .38 was enough.  As i remember it, not much smaller than the current micro autos.

Even if they were capable, only a masochist would want to shoot .454 from a derringer.

I was listing Judges and Governors as an alternative to a derringer. The larger calibers and better ergonomics are just bonuses on top of more rounds.  If snakes are the concern, a derringer would be ill-suited, IMHO.  Small moving target & 2 shots seems .... optimistic.

I’ve found a judge with a 3” barrel shooting  410 000 buck groups tight enough to keep the entire load on a man sized target at 15 yards. (There’s got to be an easier way to say that).  I can’t speak for the Bond since Taurus claims to have shot and buck friendly rifling, but at least I can offer a first hand account on a similar pistol.

Conversely, bird shot was all over the places at 7 yards.

Likewise The Winchester PDX 410 loads with the disks were on target at 15 yards. The recoil was significantly more than the 000 buck but we learned in the 9mm vs 357 thread that doesn’t translate directly to increased muzzle velocity.

Hope that’s helpful.

my friend told me that this little bp pistol on the right is a same type that Booth use to assassinate Lincoln.

I shot it at the Gettysburg shoot a few months ago.

That looks super cool to shoot.  It's on my list of guns to shoot.  The OG Derringer and a Blunderbust.

These are heavy, and about the size of a 5 shot revolver. Hard to shoot,
Look cool but not practical Just my 2 cents
I have a S&W Governor, It my all around favorite DEFENCE gun
6 shot 45acp with moon clips super fast reloading also shoot 45 colt
and best of all will shoot  6, 410 shotshells  I like the PDX's and 000 buck

I think I have that same exact one on the right. It was my grandfathers and I got it when he died. IIRC it was a kit gun that he had to assemble. It takes a bit of work to shoot it. No sights and I had no idea where the round went because the closest target was maybe 25 yards.
