Worth Bring My Firearms
« on: December 26, 2018, 12:11:08 AM »
Hello,

I'm moving form Florida to Hawaii in a month and was wondering if its even worth bringing my firearms.

Considering that I'm coming from Florida and only planning to stay for a year or so.

Rap Back is what primary concerns me, due to experience with gov miss handling of paperwork.

Concern aside, if anyone can shed some light on the Rap Back pertaining if federal employee with clearance are already in the system or not
that would be helpful.

Thank you

You still have to enroll with our police and pay the rapback fee. Idk anyone who by passed the app by showing their already in the stystem.

Make sure you read and understand hrs134. Especially the "places to keep" law.

It was not worth it to me.  I did not want to register firearms and then have them taken away at a later date because of some dumb law change.  I also did not want to pay to be in rapback or give the police access to my medical records

To each their own.  I would hate to see a situation where you would need at least 1 gun and not have it.  To me the piece of mind for safety outweights RAPBACK.  But then again, I'm already enrolled and registered everything as well as submitted for all the checks Hawaii requires.  I do not know what a free state is like for gun ownership.

Another idea if you don't want big brother knowing what you got, buy a rifle here that will be registered.  That way what ever you have in FL is not in a Hawaiis data base.  To get a rifle permit to purchase in Hawaii, you just have to apply.  No handgun safety class needed like if you were to buy a handgun here.  Long gun/shotgun permits do not require a class.

well, I do have alternatives methods for home defense including the big dog.  Plus since no one can really carry legally everyone except the criminals are disarmed when outside the home.  Despite the  Privileges and Immunities clause and the 14th amendment, my carry permit isnt legal here.

Plus,  if you are familiar with the polymer80 80% glock receivers you can have one completed and ready to fire in 15 minutes if you know what you are doing with a dremel or hand drill.  No, not reasonable for home invasion but if we see lawlessness  and looting after a giant hurricane I will be making mine and worrying about registration later.

I just had no desire for the state to confiscate my old collection if I brought them.   I even had a single shot 80% 50 BMG rifle.  I cant imagine trying to register that in Hawaii.  I dont think I even had a pistol that had a 10 round or less mag except for a Rhino revolver.

My son got a nice early inheritance of 40 some firearms and he lives in a free state that does not require a background check to transfer to a family member or require registration.   They are in a much better and safer place.

I'd bring them if you regularly practice like twice a month or so.  A year is a long time to not practice.

If your not going to use them much then leave it in Florida.  Make sure you clean and oil it well so they don't rust.

If he had a big dog in FL, he's still screwed.  Isn't there like a 6 month quarantine since we have no rabies here?

yeah the rabies process is still stupid complicated but at least it is not 6 months quarantine anymore.  Costs about $1000 per dog to do the direct release from the airport process.  Sure you can get on a plane with Ebola in Africa and fly here but at least there is no Rabies .

Also about as stupid as the law that says tattoo artists need to get (and only get) a syphilis test.  From a medial point of view this is just the most stupid idiotic requirement I've ever seen.

But hey, we are in the state of stupid politicians who think they are smarter than everyone (Dunning–Kruger effect) and make even dumber laws and then the population who keeps re-electing them.

speaking of which, I had to do another mental health clearance for a firearm permit recently for someone the police did not need to get cleared.  The police dont even know their own laws around here.  At least he did not need to fly to another island to get it done.

But they don't let that stop them from making up shit and holding you accountable for their dumbass fabricated horseshit lies. That's how they roll. Welcome to the land of "aloha".

Ya, bring them to practice is a a valid reason to bring them.

I seen people struggle with qualification in the Army Reserve cause they only shoot once a year for qualification.

But, I'm pretty sure there is places where you can rent.

Plus, I just read a post that HPD didnt want to deregister a someones gun even though he sent it back to CONUS.
