They are a form letter, everyone of the same with no individual input.

I see. Thanks.

What makes them not testimony? Sorry not doubting you, really want to know criteria.
Testimony is directed to a committee holding a hearing on a particular bill on a particular day, and that submission to the committee is preserved and becomes part of the public record.

The emails of the NRA/GOA, etc. variety go to individual politicians, who may be members of a committee, but the emails are not required to become part of the public record, have no legal obligation to be preserved, and likely, are not even read or tallied.

So don't use this?

Use it for sure, this send a message to the committee members asking them not to hear a bill.

When it becomes time to actually give tesstimony there’s other ways to do it to be counted.

Sure, you can use that... but, as you see in the form, that email is addressed to the members of the committee. It is not part of the public record as testimony.of the hearing on the bills before their particular committees on the day they are heard. Those legislators receiving those private emails are under no obligation to even tally them, much less read them (they're all the same) or enter them into any public record. Since it takes approximately one minute to fill out that autoform, you could do that and then go to the state website and submit official testimony that becomes part of the public record... that'll take another minute or two for each bill if you only click "support" or "oppose" and leave no comments. If you are planning on submitting testimony, you may want to go to the state website to do that rather than wait for the NRA-ILA notice because they tend to arrive too late to submit actual testimony (must be submitted 24 hours prior to the committee hearing)... they are more like a last minute reminder to the committee members (not that they ever even see them or hear about them).

This is also an important tool.  The more messages they get the better.

Thanks. So think buckshot. Just trying to understand how things work. I'm new to voicing my opinion officially politically.

I checked the news article and was surprised to see that there isn't a comment section. I haven't been on the site in a while, so I don't know if that's a new thing, but I don't like the idea that the only view presented is what's on their site and citizens aren't allowed to refute details or openly ask questions. Someone should tell the leftists liberals of Hawaii to support our efforts-- otherwise it won't be long before our elected officials decide to ram down a policy that even they wouldn't agree with. The wife and I will be there Thursday morning.
