Quote
Certain freedoms yes, but prosperity definitely NO.  Hawaiians rank at or near the bottom of most socio-economic metrics conducted by both government and NGOs.  The bottom line is no people wants to be taken over by another country illegally.  And Hawaiians want their nation back; it is that simple.

True; there are a number of cult-like megalomaniacs running around in the Hawaiian communities claiming to be the next messiah.  However, most of them have been discredited by most Hawaiians today.

That was maybe 20 years ago, but the record has been repaired and the song now being played is in perfect harmony.

I was gonna say no one wants to be occupied, illegally or otherwise. But there was Austria and Hitler. That didn’t really work out well now did it...

Noted on cults. However, in the case of the friends of Hawaiian ancestry that I’ve talked to, many still have a “well (someone well respected)” said so and I trust them. That they would never lead them astray. As a wise friend told me repeatedly, “trust but verify”.

What about the fact that the illegally occupying forces of the United States hold down and force feed the "hawaiians" and are thus responsible for all the fat fucks contributing to "hawaiians" having the highest rates of obesity and diabetes, etc.? Since the "hawaiians" are at root genetically Chinese, and we know the obesity rate of Chinese is relatively low, this is more proof that there is no legal treaty of annexation.

Which is exactly why I prefer a fork.

But seriously, regarding protestors claiming oppression and distress with the upside down flags...…

I was at Costco last week and saw some large expensive lifted pickup trucks with upside down flags.
If that is oppression and distress, then sign me up!
By the way, if you are shopping at Costco, you ain't in distress, are you?

So OBVIOUSLY that’s due to oppression?

There are lots of folks of Hawaiian ancestry that are prosperous. There are also lots of immigrant and imperialistic Americans living in Hawaii that are at the bottom of “categories”. Selective viewing and conveying of “facts” to support your vision.

Rational over emotional

The term prosperous is very subjective and the Hawaiians you speak of being prosperous are but a minority compared to the economically distressed majority of the Hawaiian population.  The point is Hawaiians are competing for the same resources with others that would have not been legally allowed to settle in great numbers on the islands had the US not illegally annexed Hawaii back in 1898.

You are implying a "Hawaiians only" nation - so who is the elitist racist now?

I refer to Hawaiians as a nationality rather than an ethnic group.

American descended Thurston and the other main insurgents that overthrew Liliuokalani were all Hawaiians by-the-way.

If you were descended from a family that can adjudicate legal status in Hawaii prior to 1898, then yes, regardless of race or ethnicity, you would be considered Hawaiian by nationality.  In fact, the Hawaii archives do contain comprehensive records of individuals who had legal status in Hawaii from the latter parts of the Monarchy period onwards.

I'm in then.  Though, I am not sure I can produce the proper documentation to adjudicate. . . I'll be undocumented then. . .

Seriously though.  I believe my grandparents on one side and great-grandparents on the other side all had legal status in Hawaii prior to 1898.  I may even have birth certificates, or whatever it was called back then.

I identify as Hawaiian -- if and when the US takes action that grants land or other forms of reparations to Hawaiians.

YOU don't have the right to tell ME who I must identify as.   O0
