It's an opportunity to come out and try shooting a wide variety of firearms and activities.  Numerous clubs set up to run venues, so you can try your hand at Cowboy Action Shooting, practical shooting, and other structured activities.  Other clubs set up venues where you can try their guns.  Hawaii Historic Arms and Hawaii Rifle Association both have venues of this type.  There are also non-firearms venues including archery and airsoft for younger members of the family.  Food is available as well, so you can stay and play all day.

As far as bringing your own guns, there will be some spaces for business-as-usual if you want to come out and shoot.  The event doesn't take over the whole facility, just most of it.  Some spaces are there for regular shooters.  But the crater will be PACKED with people.  So, short answer is no, don't bring your own.  Besides, there will be more guns at the SSF than there are at the local gun shows, and you get to shoot them.  Why would you need your own?

Do bring money.  This is a pay-to-play event, and requires scrip purchase.

I'll be volunteering with the HRA/LIFE group and will be there Saturday for sure and most likely on Sunday.  Hope to see many of you there!

Never been to one either. I figured the best way to see what things are like is to dive right in and volunteer to help the HRA. So I hope they can find something for me to do. Just waiting to hear back what my assignment(s) are going to be.

I don't know how much the scripts cost, but Daniel at KGS posted on his website that $50 would be a good amount, but $100 or more would "allow one to experience the largest variety of firearms and venues."  He posted a sample of some guns that will be available at the HRA tent.

Wow.  That's a little more expensive than I thought it would be.  I wonder how much per shot with something like a 308 or shotgun will be. 

I don't remember it being that expensive.  I know I paid $2 for five rounds of .223, same for 7.62x39. 12 gauge was I think $6 for three rounds and 30-06 was expensive as well though I can't remember exact numbers.

It's a good event that let's you shoot a lot of different firearms and gives you the chance to try out guns that you wouldn't normally buy for yourself.
