Are permits to acquire valid in all state counties??

I have a long gun permit to acquire from Maui County.  If I travel to Oahu, can I use it to acquire firearms there too?  If not, why are there county differences and not a statewide standard?

I appreciate your input!

The statute says you have to apply for the permit in your county -- your place of business if any, or place of residence if any, or place of sojourn.  So, if you live in Honolulu County, you have to apply at Honolulu Police Dept.

Quote
§134-2  Permits to acquire.  (a)  No person shall acquire the ownership of a firearm, whether usable or unusable, serviceable or unserviceable, modern or antique, registered under prior law or by a prior owner or unregistered, either by purchase, gift, inheritance, bequest, or in any other manner, whether procured in the State or imported by mail, express, freight, or otherwise, until the person has first procured from the chief of police of the county of the person's place of business or, if there is no place of business, the person's residence or, if there is neither place of business nor residence, the person's place of sojourn, a permit to acquire the ownership of a firearm as prescribed in this section.  .

A lot of people have been discouraged from buying a  first time gun  due to the new Rap Back registration and the requirement to get a letter from a doctor that says you are not a nutcase. First time gun purchasers are intimidated by the mounds of requirements you must have inclusive of the safety training. A doctor will not give you a letter which says you are not a nutcase due to liability with putting that in writing. Their 2A rights are definitely being violated. I think as gun owners we need to blame ourselves for this as we have the numbers to really sway an election and scare some of these overzealous anti-gun politicians but everyone has the attitude that they won't come for my only gun I own for protection. That is a false notion as these politicians do not care what is fair for the "Law Abiding Taxpayer" and whether they like it or not we (gun owners) are Law Abiding Taxpayers. Wake up folks and get morew unified in fighting some of these "Unreasonable requirements, fees, and prohibitions" put on us by the State (not Feds) law.
