The gunman accused of terrorizing a Pacific Palisades neighborhood last week in a 15-hour standoff with police appeared in court Monday.

Wayman Kaua, 51, is charged with attempted murder, terroristic threatening and firearms offenses in connection with the incident at a home on Apoepoe Street.

In court, a judge confirmed Kaua’s bail at $1 million.

Kaua has 50 prior arrests and 26 felonies. He was just released from prison in March after a similar armed standoff 21 years ago.

"He has a good heart. My dad would give his shirt off his back to anyone and that's the kind of person he is," Dayshine said.

Until they can see dad again, the ohana says they hope to cope and heal.

"On behalf of knowing what my dad would say, we do wanna apologize for the families that weren't able to get home. Anyone that was affected by it," Dayshine said.

That event reminded me of the scene from SWAT where the guy in his bibbadees was barricaded inside his house and they broke the wall down with that mega-grappling thing.
