Whatever he proposes, the cut-off for punitive actions will be slightly above his own massive wealth.

All these Socialist Progressives saying TAX THE RICH don't get it.  Most don't have their wealth in cash.  They have it invested, and to pay any "1%-er tax" would require them to sell large blocks of their stock -- for some it would be stock in their own companies.

When they sell, that significantly increases the supply of stock shares on the market which drives down the price -- which then means they have to sell even more to get the cash to pay their taxes.  That hurts all who are invested in that stock.

Once that stock price drops, the 1%-er's portfolio value drops in kind.  That LOWERS the amount of tax they should have to pay.

Bernie, Warren and others haven't thought this "Eat the Rich" proposal through.

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

Bernie isn't that wealthy though, especially when compared to a lot of other politicians. His net worth is an estimated net work is $2 million which really isn't that much. Heck, if you own a decent size home on Oahu you are practically a millionaire.

Question is, how is he worth $2mil without ever having a REAL JOB in his life?

I don't consider career politician, a real job, especially when his accomplishments are few and far between.

I do not believe the founders intended political office to be a career position, when they put so much thought into limiting government power over the people.

Quote
Sanders earns a yearly salary of $174,000 as a senator, and his total reported assets were less than $750,000 in 2015. But he earned more than $1 million in both 2016 and 2017, primarily because of royalties from his books, financial-disclosure documents show.

I’m not great at math, but things not adding up. Same article that I pulled the above from “reported” Sanders’ spending a “meager”. Also something like he’s had payouts approaching $2 mil itself from a recent book deal on top of nearly $1.5 mil in gains in 2018.

He also seems to have a number of properties, but with mortgages.

Nah, he’s Robin Hood. Taking from the rich (besides himself) and giving to the needy.

Bernie Sanders Unveils New Plan To Levy Special Tax On Anyone Who Makes More Money Than Bernie Sanders
September 24th, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Bernie Sanders has unveiled his new wealth tax plan, a sweeping proposal that will heavily tax people who make too much money.

The cut-off line for determining who is a good, successful citizen and who is a greedy leech destroying society will be however much money Bernie Sanders makes.

"We want people to be able to chase the American Dream, but not too much," Sanders said. "A good amount---like three houses? Great. Four houses? Evil! Millions? That's alright with me. Billions? Die, capitalist scum!"

Sanders pointed out that when people make more money than he does, it makes him feel bad. But when he starts to make a lot of money, it feels good to him. So his wealth tax plan will adjust with how much money Sanders makes. Should he start making billions, then the tax plan will really start to hammer the trillionaires and ease up on the billionaires a bit. Once he's a trillionaire, which should be pretty quick what with socialism's inflation and all, then the quadrillionaires will be in Sanders's sights.

"The important thing is that those who work hard and invest their capital are rewarded right up until they pass me by," Sanders said. "I get so mad when I see someone with four houses! Who needs that many homes!?"

Congressmen make about $170,000 a year. Making that type of money it would only take 10-15 years to acquire $2 million in net worth. Plus he has written a book which has probably earned him some extra money. It is quite easy to see how he could have acquired $2 million and compared to other people with that amount of time in congress he actually has a fairly low net worth.
