As a person that was right there, I will say,

In one of the most gun controlled states of the union,  in utterly most gun controlled and gun sanitary places on this island, (where literally no person is legally allowed to have or carry a gun other than the government) 3 of my coworkers are shot, two killed.

This brings home to me that when shit goes down, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN.

We locked down and looked for any type of half assed improvised weapon and had little pocket knives ready for, God forbid, who knows what.  Sitting freaking ducks if the shooter decided he wanted more carnage.

Its PROVEN, without a SINGULAR DOUBT right here, that the government, no matter how much restrictions and controls implemented, or laws enacted, cannot protect people when one means to do harm.

Time for all government to honor OUR RIGHTS TO ARMED SELF DEFENSE.
Sorry to hear that Heavies. I’ve been working a lot lately with the sub folks. Mostly the office staff, but I’m sure many are often at the ship. Hoping they’re all fine. I thought about reaching out to many of them today, but figured they’d have enough folks checking in on them.

Take care man!

My family member was in the office right next to the shooting. They could of been killed if gun man went on rampage! My family member told me that the people that were shot were at there front door & had to past the bodies when police told them to come out with hands up
Oh ignorant youth, the world is not a joyous place. The time has come for you to dispense with the frivolous pleasures of childhood and get down to honest toil until you are sixty-five. Then and only then can you relax and collect your social security and live happily until the time of your death!

thinking it's not an evil black rifle, otherwise it would be all over the news by now
The 22-year-old shooter “opened fire on shipyard personnel with his M4 service rifle and then turned his M9 service pistol on himself,” Fox News Pentagon reporter Lucas Tomlinson reported, citing a preliminary incident report.

Never hurts to have people checking in on you.  Just shows you care and they matter to you.   :shaka:

Yeah, for sure.  I checked in with a bunch of them today.  Most are in the "non-essential" group and have the day off.  Most weren't in the CIA area during that time as their office is quite a bit away.

I had a bunch of people checking in on me yesterday.  And while I was no where close to the area where this went down, it was pretty chaotic around here until news came down that it was at the shipyard.  But like you said, felt good that people checked up on me.

Glad you guys who work in close proximity to this are safe.

Also Jenna Jameson, who instagrammed /tweeted/ pictographed / whatever reported she’s safe.

Get a load this shit. She posted she lives next door to Pearl Harbor and reported she and her family are safe.
She lives in an F’in Kakaako high rise.

I am sorry to all who had to deal with this and especially those who have to deal with losing their loved ones.

I was on the H1 at 2:45pm when all these HPD/HFD/EMS vehicles were coming from all directions. I didn’t know what happened at the time but I called my wife to let her know to stay in Kapolei since she had a doctor’s appointment in Honolulu.

Watched the press conference on HNN FB feed. Canned answers. Didn’t expect much detailed info, but the media was ripping on the PAO after all of the high-maks left the room.

Seeing a bunch of vehicles responding makes me wish i would be able to keep a firearm and ammo in my trunk.

Clint smith (thunder ranch) keeps lots of mags in his trunk incase responding cops need more ammo. But he lives in a free-er state.

Mostly same stuff the past 48 hrs. Thoughts and prayers, investigation on-going, etc. Added no further threat, appear isolated (not terror or part of bigger plot).

Questions about why this apparently troubled person was put on armed guard. I mean I understand both sides, esp doing investigation before releasing info. However, this isn’t going to go well for command chain on Navy side no matter what the investigation finds.

Most likely the senior enlisted thought putting the sailor on duty as a punishment, but didn't think about if they ever use the firearms for other purposes.

“Noon to never” shift 🤔

That said, lots of speculation. I’d prefer they get to facts before rushing to release any info or people judging. However, I also understand those that want answers.
