Get a larger safe than you "think" you'll need. At least that's very true in my case and something I hear quite often. The stated capacity is often optimistic. Especially if you have long guns with optics or pistol grips. My rifle with LPVO takes up almost three spots
In my case, my collection expanded quite a bit from when I first got my safe. Then again, I could build myself a walk-in gun closet and I'd just fill it up.
Hypothetical right ? IF you had a rifle with a LVPO since you don't own any firearms, ammo, reloading equipment, or body armor.
JHara had a decent stack on safe last time I was there.
Home Depot can order you a safe if they don't have it in stock, but it comes by boat. So when ever their next shipment of stuff is. Maybe 2 weeks, maybe 2 months. You have to pay for it up front, but can get a refund for what ever reason once it arrives in store.
Costco and Sams has safes on a regular basis, but not all the time.
I got mine from Bass Pro/Cabelas. 1 day the shipping cost more than the safe. I just so happen to check the next day and shipping was only $30. So I ordered it and sure enough, only $30 shipping. Got lucky I guess.
The other stores that have safes are the ones that cost like $2,000+. For 1 rifle, that's overkill. No need fire rated, and 800lbs. But up to you. You can always upgrade later. I'm looking for a bigger one soon because the collection of guns is growing...hypothetically growing.
