Ken Hackathorn is highly respected. I would like to see some rest accuracy numbers and I want to see the fit and finish and try the trigger myself. I forgot the original DA trigger stacks. That is huge if they all but eliminated it.

Great vid, thanks for posting.
Just watched the whole video.  Good points on revolver shooting than just being about the Python.  I haven't experienced the DA trigger stacking.  Maybe I'll do some dry firing tonight.

I still think the original Pythons will hold value, even if the reboot does really well and is a better shooter than the original.  Mine isn't going anywhere.  Maybe the range, but not much further than that.   ;D

I agree, the old ones will hold value
Like a new Mustang Bullitt. It's better than the original, but the original is still worth more

The benefit of having a "reboot" version of a classic is how much new interest in the classic they create.

No such thing as "bad publicity".

the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

A what?  ???

I like to shoot all of my guns.  Though the Python is one that I can't seem to take out of the safe when I head to the range.

My thinking too.  Re-energizes things in general for the "snake line".

Colt Anaconda next?  :hmm:

Being a .22 aficionado I can hardly wait to see if/when they come out with a Cobra and/or Diamondback in .22.

Meecum auctions are auctioning the original Bullitt Mustang from Steve McQueen this weekend
My guess is it will go for over 500k
The new ones go for about 50k

On a side note, King Cobras on sale at HGS

now price is 1396.  this time you can do the math yourself.  at least it went down from 1525
that's a difference of 129   :D

Fondled my (dad's old) Python last night and I noticed the trigger stacking that Hackathorn mentioned.  I haven't shot it yet and when I did dry fire, it was mostly the SA trigger.  Noticed the trigger stacking and the sort of wall near the end of the DA pull.  I'll have to get a trigger scale one of these days.

Does the revolver used by Sgt. Al (Die Hard) sound like that?  Or was it movie sounds?

I've fired other revolvers and they sound way diff.

Why does it matter what the revolver sounds like?  ???

Dogman’s .500 S&W is manly sounding for sure.

For semi-autos, the “poof poof” ammo sounds cute.

what I also like about the new Python is the grips are the same size/fitting as the old ones, and you can change out the front sights very easily with an allen wrench
same as the Cobra.  but the grip size is different than the old ones on the Cobra.
I put G10 grips on the Cobra and XS night sight on the front.  I haven't shot it yet with these changes, i'm probably going tomorrow to test it out.  the trigger is also non-stacking, 8-9lbs DA and 3-4 lbs SA, so i'm thinking it is very similar to the new Python trigger
I already have a sight and grip picked out for the Python  :D

The front sight flexibility is definitely a plus. The front sight on the original is fixed and just has the orange insert section. My preference is for FO front sights and plain second.

for range I like the fiber optic sight, easier to see that iron
for the Cobra, it came with fiber optic, but since its more of a defensive revolver I wanted tritium night sight.  I can always switch back if I change my mind
