I was in Prescott last October.  I don't think Ruger gives tours of their facility, but don't quote me cause I might be wrong.
Ok, I found some info regarding visiting the factory.  You can look at the outside, like I did.  No tours are given as everything that goes on in there is confidential.

After you posted this I looked around. It seems the people who had a tour had video channels and were invited. I didn’t realize that. Combine that with the invite thru my Cabela’s card to tour the factory, for a fee, I thought it was open to anyone. Oh well, I’ll have plenty else to do once I move.

I’m really disappointed tho.

$316k (not including DP)  over 20yrs comes to about $28.85. :geekdanc:
Divide that between 4 occupants  comes out to $10.82 per day each or $650 per month for me and Rockette.  ;)
Sounds tempting but .....

I would still get a CCW permit even if they have cons carry.  Because in order to come within 1000ft of a school, you must have that states CCW.  Regardless if they have cons carry or not.  Although it's rarely enforced, but it is enforced.  Most are add on charges, but 1 guy is not.  He was 996 ft away.  He's fighting it till this day.  The school zone is a federal law.  IIRC, in 2018, 60ish people were charged with the crime.

This is why I have my NV one.

Rather than move, maybe consider thinking of ways to change the status quo?

I’ve contributed money and testimony where I can. As the sole provider for my family with three little ones, it’s tough to show up in person for these events.

That being said, life is short. There is no opposition party here. Look at the last election results. They didn’t even finish airing it. They switched to sports. This place is a joke.  I know when to play a losing hand to the best of my ability and when to fold.

I know many my age giving serious thought to moving, mainly for the cost of living (and we make good money). Factor in crime and these ridiculous laws and you will have a mass exodus.

That lucky we live Hawai’i statement?

That’s just code telling you to grin and take it.

I advise all my friends who have no children and make less than $35K a year to move.  Especially if they don't see themselves advancing and making more $ any time soon.

That’s the thing. I feel that category is already leaving.

I’m an home owner and make a great income.  I STILL started considered leaving since money doesn’t go far here. Especially since I started following the FIRE movement.

I’m frugal and make a great income and am actively investing.

It’s the COL that started the thinking. It’s the one party state and assault on our rights that will seal the deal.

I used to listen to Dave Ramsey. I pretty much follow his ideas. But I tilt certain things towards my specific situation. Only problem I didn't start until I was 40. Which means I am retiring 22 years later (I'm 62). So I am living proof it can be done in 22 years. If I had continued investing in the stock market, I could have retired earlier or richer. But I decided to switch investments to mostly real estate in 2005.

I had nothing in the bank when I started at 40. I had just come off a bad divorce with major debt a few years earlier. I almost had to declare bankruptcy. I had just finished paying off all the credit cards and my wife's car. I have long understood the key to getting rich is controlling your expenses. Not so much how much you make. And hell knows I don't make great money. I know people who make $200k/year and are living paycheck to paycheck and have nothing in the bank. But they are living a grand lifestyle and driving the best cars. The fallacy is thinking you have to make more money to get ahead when you actually do better financially by not spending as much, not having debt and stick to proper investing. Of course it doesn't hurt to do both (Make great money and cut spending). In fact it will get you to your goals that much faster. I never lived in fancy apartments and I didn't buy my first house until I was 43. Every time I got a raise I banked every penny and didn't change my lifestyle. I drove my 1982 Toyota PU until 2001. It rattled and made a lot of noise when I hit a bump. And my neighbors used to snicker at me when I came home from work. A lot of them got hurt in 2008 when the real estate and stock market crashed. When I met my wife I told her if we are to be together she has to get on board with my plan. She did, and is a big part of our being able to retire when we are.

That’s great to hear Inspector!  I agree will everything said above.

Again, I do love this place quite a bit, but the only keeping me here for the most part is my income.  If that were to change, that would speed up my departure.

House hacking has kept my monthly housing bills low but of course there’s still a large balance to chip away at. I think a combination of minimalism, Ramsey, mr money mustache, and bigger pockets has helped me along.

Having 3 children and always being at work though has really started the looking abroad.  The political environment and nothing changes is helping along for sure.

I love this place and the people here as well. While my income is only average, it goes way down in AZ. Same job, different state and $18k difference in pay. But I figure my expenses in AZ will be approximately $6k a year less. If you factor in the difference in mortgage payments the lower COL is less another $15k so about $21k total less. In SoCal my job is $20k more than here. While the COL is similar, the frustration factor of the longer drives, worse traffic and now working environment (Downtown LA/Homeless) I won’t do It. So if I intended to still work AZ makes a lot of sense if I include the difference in mortgage payments.

The lower COL in AZ including mortgage payments is what helped me to decide to retire now instead of later. Include what you said about the political environment and nothing changing helped me make up my mind. The big thing is we could stay here after I retire. My wife has the medical support she needs here tho lately it has not been very good. But we wouldn’t have much left over at the end of each month. We don’t want to have to worry about money. So moving makes sense to us. Especially since COL in AZ with mortgage payment difference is $21k/year.
