Doesn't fit in a regular envelop mailed with a 49 cent stamp?
A first class envelop costs 55 cents.  It hasn't been 49 cents for awhile.

Ok so what happens if I purchase a gun in a private sale, have a valid, current permit but cannot get in touch with HPD to make an appointment or if I do get one but it exceeds the maximum time allowed to register??? ???

HPD has never done anything negative to anyone who came in to register after the specified time limit.  If you wait too long, they'll give you a gentle reminder via phone.

I imagine if you ignore registration indefinitely, you COULD be charged with a petty misdemeanor, but responsible, law-abiding gun owners (like Groveler) would never refuse to register so that it gets to that!

Quote
§134-17  Penalties. (a)  If any person gives false information or offers false evidence of the person's identity in complying with any of the requirements of this part, that person shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, provided, however that if any person intentionally gives false information or offers false evidence concerning their psychiatric or criminal history in complying with any of the requirements of this part, that person shall be guilty of a class C felony.

     (b)  Any person who violates section 134-3(a) shall be guilty of a petty misdemeanor.

     (c)  Any person who violates section 134-2, 134-4, 134-10, 134-15, or 134-16(a) shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.  Any person who violates section 134-3(b) shall be guilty of a petty misdemeanor and the firearm shall be confiscated as contraband and disposed of, if the firearm is not registered within five days of the person receiving notice of the violation. [L 1988, c 275, pt of §2; am L 1994, c 204, §9]
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

I called probably 50 times off and on yesterday from when they opened till just about 11. Just gotta keep calling. I got through just before the 50th time.

So how come you called that 50th time?  jk

Seriously though, glad you and others were able to get through. My friend called twice and got through. I was thinking he should've just dropped my name too! Ultimately, still no appointment and my permit pickup is this week...

Hang in there guys and stay safe.

Most recent I have heard is that when people get through to make their appointments they get all 3 appointments reserved at once so you don't need to worry about calling again once you pick up the gun.

I hope they take lessons learned from this and implement an appointment reservation system like they did at the DMV which was actually a big improvement. Imagine having your preset time window and you don't have to take a guess at how many people will be in line when you arrive. The parking would be easier too.

My long gun permit is expiring shortly.  I have been call off and on since 03/27 and just keep getting the "We are sorry..." message.  After 12 tries today, someone finally answered.  Made my appointment for the application, the pickup, and the registration.    :geekdanc:  Maybe another purchase before my application appointment?  I can dream.

Imagine just having to do a background check at a LGS and not having to make any appointments with HPD for anything  ;)

One can only dream.

Just take a scre of how many times you called to make an appointment.  I had called them
300+ times and missed the pickup window.  But I showed them the number of times I called over how many days and they were apologetic.

All I want is a SOCOM2 CQB and gen5 Glock G19 MOS.

Just got through yesterday got an appointment same day and made my reg app. When I went to pick up the permits, there were a lot of people outside waiting to be seen. I'm talking 10-12 peeps picking up or applying. Some were there an hour early. Talked to most of them, maybe 8-9 were first time. Amazed...

Anyway, apparently there is a person on the other side of that phone. Just gotta call 5000 times, that's all...

Same here, renewing long gun permit
I called for 3 days, 2 hours each day. Finally got through. Person who answered was very nice, very helpful. Almost too nice, too helpful. My spidey sense is tingling.  >:D
Since I'm going there anyway, might as well buy something. Or two.

That’s what it was like in WA back in the late 90s. Not anymore though  :(

My long gun permit expires today. I had been planning on buying the PCC before today, then F’ing Rona.

Oh I hope not like DMV here. I'm trying to get driving test for my son and it's 6 months out. I have to get the Gold Star ID and the earliest is 3 months out. Yeah no thanks. I'll take my chances knowing I can waste a day but have it done.

But I can see it now getting all 3 lined up at once....

Your appointment to apply for permit is May 1, 2020, your follow up to pick up your permit (unless you have it mailed) is June 16, 2020 (sorry - outside pickup window, please start over), your bring back to provide firearm for registration is August 12, 2020 if you were smart enough to have it mailed (again sorry - not within 5 days, we gonna confiscate now). That's just for long guns. I can't wait to see a fiasco for handguns.

Didn’t the feds say the “gold star” requirement was suspended UFN?
