Lots of times available for August 4. Good thing is that it’s only 7 days out so hopefully it’ll alleviate the backlog. I signed up for a spot, but still kind of sketch that it only says TEST lol

Maybe you get to be the first vict... I mean volunteer
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy.

What do I need to bring to HPD tomorrow to complete the registration of the last 2 handguns I bought during the panic?  It's been so long since I got the permits to acquire?

Dsont I just need to fill out the registration form at HPD and digitally sign?

I already picked up the guns from the FFL and I religiously keep all permits, receipts and registration forms in a folder and I can't find the permits to acquire but HPD have those already right?

So, if I have the guns now I just need to fill out the registration form at HPD now  yeah?  Any replies appreciated before 2pm today.

Progress.... You can apply in Kapolei now.

But only for you in the system with RAPBACK I think

Same process but click the "TEST" link to get there

I'm still stuck in going to the main station. Like they can't run the BG check from Kapolei?

not sure if this Kapolei thing is working bc theres no Wednesday.  still only Tuesday available

Not sure if I’m checking the wrong area, but I see nothing available for both the main station and Kapolei.  Not sure how this can be legal...

If there is nothing. It's booked out 3 months. They don't release anything further then that. But cancellations do pop back up if there are any but you have to be quick to scoop those :shaka:

I’m actually good on guns now but was just curious, so I checked.  So how does it go?  Every morning, time slots 90 days out pop up on their site?  If there’s a cancellation with only one slot available and someone is trying to register a handgun, can they walk in two weeks later and then after that to register the handgun?

The only thing you can "walk in" for is to pick up your permit to aquire. To apply for permit or to register firearms you need an appointment. Right now they are accepting expired permits because they recognize the problem with the appointment system. Trying to get a registration appointment before your permits expire is very difficult. All three of of my pistol permits will be expired when I go in for my register firearms appointment on Aug 6.

As for the appointments that's how they have been dropping. They go quick, for both registration and permit to aquire.

I just checked, and there are a lot less time slots than when I picked mine yesterday. I’ll head out and report back to see if they honor the appointment next week. If anything, it’ll be nice to go for a drive

I called the Kapolei police station this morning about them doing gun registrations. In a unenthusiastic pidgeon tone the public servant (cop) told me he had heard about something in the future but not now. He hung up.

If you're going to contact anyone over the phone, especially a gov't employee,  and the topic is potentially contentious, you should start out with, "To whom am I speaking?"  Asking after they say something stupid or rude is too late.  They'll either hang up or give a false name.

Anyway, I would have called back, and if he answered again, I'd immediately ask for his name and that of his supervisor.  His answer was unacceptable.  If he doesn't know, he can easily find out while you wait or call you back.

These kinds of stories piss me off.  They are public SERVANTS paid by our tax money.  Nobody treats me like a peon.

BTW, Hawaii is a one-party consent state for recording conversations.   :geekdanc:
