This state is broken. I hate to be “one of those people” that flee a state rather then stand and try to change the laws but I just see no light at the end of the tunnel. People here, especially Hawaiians, don’t give a crap about politics. This allows politicians to run unelected and propose and enforce crappy policies. I don’t see myself living here much longer.
With that being said, what state, if you had to, would you guys go to? I’d love to go to Wyoming. Clean air, secluded, unreal hunting and fishing, lax gun laws, just to name a few things. Frigid winters is the only thing stopping me. How about you guys?
I agree with everything you say. You can play a losing hand to the best of your ability but sometimes it makes sense to fold. My wife is open to the idea but we can’t be more than 30-40 min away from a major town. I’m looking at getting at least 1 acre with a house and don’t want to spend more than $500k.
I’m looking at specifically CDA in Idaho, and a Connifer Colorado.
We were looking at Durham NH because close to my wife’s family but Gave up when we realized prop taxes for a 300-400k house is around $10k!

I worry about CO being more blue though. Most of the props there are $400-500k, 1 acre 2000-2500sq ft 3/2. 30 min from Denver.
CDA is about 30-40 min from Spokane, and I found some acreage and a nice house for less than $500k.
I worry about the cold for both and will miss the surf terribly, but the way I’m setting it up, I should be able to make solid cash flow renting out my property here, move to the mainland and have cheaper everything. I won’t need to make nearly as much. Probably would feel the same making half.
Not sure if my income will come back here, if it does anytime soon I’d be happy to make 50-75% of what I was making. They say Hawai’i is hit the hardest and I have to agree hospitality states will feel the worst. Couple in the fact that the state is full of asleep citizens and corrupt lazy politicians that rather fight trump than get things rolling, and well, you get the idea.
This event has me really concerned living in one of the most remote places with a lot of people in a small area.
I like threads like these. Keep the info coming. More like minded people.
