Please note, under Mayor Caldwell’s Emergency Order 2020-08, all City and County of Honolulu parks (except Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve and Koko Head Shooting Complex), are open only for walking, running, jogging, or biking. Unfortunately, we cannot open the Koko Head Shooting Complex for the public at this time although we will likely open it up some time in the near future. We are working on a phased re-opening of this facility. Please note, all City parks are also available for usage of open comfort stations/showers, accessing designated community garden plots, and traversing City parks to engage in ocean activities such as swimming, surfing, solo paddling, and other activities allowed by law.
Typical politician-esque response. . . ::)

it's all about power - nothing to do with what is rational. I bet most politicians don't understand the term "flatten the curve". I bet most of them believe that it refers to having close to zero infections.

When they said they are working on a "phased re-opening of the facility" I resigned myself to accepting that it won't open anytime soon.

I'm definitely NO fan of Ige. In fact quite the opposite.  I used to work with his brother and when when Ige was elected, I saw how cabinet positions were filled.  That included said brother and a college classmate (whom incidentally I can't stand either).  So many TOTALLY not fit for those positions.

Anyways, just when I think Ige can't possibly handle things worse, or come up with a bonehead way to bumble things, he goes and proves me wrong. . .  ::)

Yeah, still can't figure out how he managed to screw up the opening dates the other day.

You figure, with this crisis the most important criteria in everyone's minds lately, he can at least get the dates right.  It's not like there's more things pressing nowadays, the state is in a literal standstill.  Dead in the water.

The shitty thing about all of that (well among others) is that Green is coming out of this looking like a damn savior.

golf is open, retail will open soon, malls will open next week, salon and haircut places may open soon too.  and Costco is more crowded than its ever been and its been open all this time.
its easier to maintain social distance and keep areas clean and sanitary at the range than it is at a mall or salon. range is very similar to golf driving range or playing golf. golf is not a right, its not even a sport. guys driving around in battery operated tiny cars hitting a small ball into a hole.  that's not a sport.  that's married men hiding from their families.  that's what that is.
when these places open before the range does, that means we are getting screwed!  :grrr:

One possible hangup for the range not opening yet is the RSO's.  They have to interact with shooters at a close distance due to the noise, and may have to physically touch them.   They also routinely touch the guns to check them.

Yup.  He's a total front.  He was even shown on TV so many times stressing importance of X and then shown on camera later not doing X himself.  I used to see him on walks with his wife (at least I think it was his wife) and totally not "walking the walk" of what he was on TV earlier in the day stating the importance of, which was wearing masks in public.

the main reason why they not opening the range soon is bc mayor and governor don't give a crap about the range. that's why
they can give this reason or that reason.  but that's just political talk for "I don't give a crap about you and what you want, even if it makes sense."
