Makapuu Hiking trail open but the parking lot isn't?

I thought I was seeing and hearing things when I saw on the news this morning of cars on the side of the road with the entrance gate to the park closed.

Such a safety hazard for people to have to run across the highway to avoid getting hit by cars.

It was said that there is no money to staff the parking lot.  Is it even possible to fathom what made our leaders make this decision?  Did they even realize the dangers this poses?  If there is no money to open the parking, then keep the trail closed.  Really stupid decision from stupid people.

So what, if a person gets hurt or killed crossing the road, can the state be held liable of being stupid enough to open the trail but provide no means of parking for people?

Did you see the political cartoon on the 2nd page of this weeks Midweek?

It shows a certain Governor hiding in the weeds...…...maybe this is why the hiking trail is open but the parking lot is closed.

Kind of like how 2a works here.  Yes, you can buy a firearm, but there is a 2.5 month waiting period.

Big stories from CA that the beaches are open, but parking lots and entrances are closed.  You can go to the beach, but you can't get there.

Also heard if you are surfing, swimming, walking or jogging -- any physical activity -- you're allowed to be at the beach.  BUT, if you are going to the beach to do what 90% of people do -- sit and enjoy the sun and view -- the Cops will tell you to leave or be fines/arrested.

I'm starting to think these places have a plan: to collect fines in order to offset their losses in tax revenue.
