Those are very good points that I've learned in my 4 years of gun rights activism.  Most people are using the wrong strategy to push gun rights - ranting online, focusing on other gun owners, etc.  The objective should be to swing the mainstream public and get enough votes to change elections.  The focus is on the 75% of the moderates - gun owners that aren't active, non-gun owners, neighbors, other non-profits, students, etc and I estimate 5,000-10,000 gun rights activists is the bare minimum that we need to get things like CCW passed.  Currently we're at a confident 500 right now if we pushed hard.

To do this we have to put in the hard work and get out of the comfort zone.  We tend to talk to and work with people that agree with us....other gun owners, gun rights politicians, conservatives, using the internet etc.  Instead you need to get out and talk to people in person, build that relationship and trust, and take them to the range.  Some of the things I've done are:
1. Take college student clubs to the range
2. Taught firearms classes to the military and their families and other beginners
3. Worked with moderate gun control politicians
4. Taken people from all walks of life to the NRA banquet
5. Talked to my coworkers and took them to the range
6.  Reached out to non-profits

There are so many things that could be done to help advance the cause, but I'm only one guy.

Glad you liked it. It made me rethink some of my more unproductive habits for sure. Also glad you guys are getting more traction. It feels like defeat some times, but like the handbook said it is a constant struggle with no definitive end to keep what we got and try and get back what we lost.

I think with all the events this year there will be a lot more support available than usual, especially since the media lies have gotten so insane that their credibility is in the toilet with pretty much everyone but the most hardcore lefties. Now that their narrative has fallen apart we have the opportunity to substitute our own.

Another plus is that winning your recent lawsuit means you are now the number one organization when it comes to getting results with limited resources, and people in the community owe you a lot for your efforts, possibly enough to make it weight on their conscience and pitch in themselves.

How many total manhours do you think it would take to get CCW passed in Hawaii from now to then?  To include all the steps that are needed to lead up to that point?

Difficult to say, and probably not the best idea to guess since according to the handbook the struggle never ends. My opinion, especially given the last few weeks, is that keeping the home fires burning is important so that we do not miss a window of opportunity. Eventually the legislators will be replaced or start becoming victims of violent crime themselves. If we have our ducks in a row it will be much easier to get our way.

That said there is something we can do that would help the gun rights cause and attack other forms of corruption as well, which is demand citizen initiatives. This is something we could team up with several other organizations even though we might be ideologically opposed.
