C&R Eligible Firearms ?
« on: July 10, 2020, 09:19:25 AM »
Dont have the willpower to be spending a lot of money on firearms rn but I was wondering if anybody knew any websites that have a good/wide selection of C&R eligible firearms for when I'm ready to go. Also for all the C&R holders, what are some cool firearms to have in your collection ? Mahalo  :shaka:

A haven't bought in a couple of years (need to sell to make room!).

I liked Aim Surplus, Classic Firearms, and Gun Broker.  I also bought from Bud's Guns.

I've not purchased from them yet, but The Mosin Crate often gets some very nice ones in stock, and they get bought out quickly.  Have to be Johnny on the Spot with your order ready to be placed by 10AM EST the day ordering is open for that item.  You get to preview what's available to purchase the day before, so you have time to shop and decide.  Most decent items in limited quantities are sold out just seconds after 10AM!

I put a new list of guns up every couple of weeks on the shop page. I have a "preview day" where no orders are accepted to
give folks a day to view everything without feeling rushed. The next day the items will go up for sale at 10AM EST when I
open and can be ordered at that time.

If you send order in before 10AM on sale day, it will be put behind those that order at correct time of 10AM or later.

There is also Century, J&G (One of my favs and close by), Bull Moose, Joe Salter, Empire (Hate his website), DK, Sarco, etc.

The Mosin Crate guy broke his rule the other day and did a first come first served sale. I was watching his video just a couple of minutes after receiving it and I immediately went to his website and everything was sold out. The thing about the Mosin Crate guy is he doesn’t buy large quantities. And what he buys is usually of a little higher quality. His prices do reflect it. I have purchased from him and what I received was pretty damn nice.

Just be aware that when you buy surplus arms, you really are taking a chance. I have purchased a lot over the years and when it comes to pistols, I have had some so-so luck. When it comes to rifles I have had nothing but good luck except from one company that purposely mis labeled a particular mauser I bought from them. If you are going to buy surplus, most places have a 24 or 48 hour return policy. So make sure you are ready to take it to the range and shoot it when it arrives and inspect it carefully before you shoot it. If you do not follow their return policy you could get stuck.

If you have not researched yet and found out about the Samco fiasco, you should Google it. Basically Samco bought a tremendous amount of surplus stuff. And basically went out of business. I forgot the exact reason for it going under. But a lot of people bought a lot of good and bad surplus when they were liquidated. One of the bad things were the Spanish Mausers. A lot of small time guys bought up large amounts of these Spanish Mausers only to find that maybe 1 in 10 were any good. Samco sold a lot of Spanish Mausers over the years that were not in very good shape. They rated them as good or very good when they were in actuality very poor condition. But they were sitting on a lot of them when they went under. Probably for that very reason. So a lot of people got stuck with these Mausers and because parts are impossible to find, have bought nothing more than a wall hanger. I collect Mausers so I know a little bit about them. I suggest you stay away from buying the Spanish and Chilean Mausers. At least until you get familiar with buying surplus rifles.

One more suggestion. If you don’t reload and you want to shoot your surplus guns, make sure the ammo is still made and readily available before you buy the firearm. Also, make sure you can afford the ammo. Even if you do reload, make sure you can get or make the necessary components for your firearm if you want to shoot them. A lot of times a surplus firearm is cheap because the owner is having a hard time getting rid of it because there is no ammo or components for it. If you are resourceful in making your own ammo components, you can pick up some pretty rare surplus firearms this way and still be able to shoot them. Otherwise you are again only buying a nice wall hanger.
SCIENCE THAT CAN’T BE QUESTIONED IS PROPAGANDA!!!

How does C&R work in Hawaii, does the Firearm get sent directly to you?  Is there a resource I can reference online.  I've been skimming through the ATF sight but I'm guessing Hawaii has 8+ steps because Fuck You that's why.

It's actually  easier from the viewpoint of only having to go to HPD once.

It's a little more effort, though, to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

So, the first thing to keep in mind is the purchase needs to be made with an out-of-state seller.  If you buy from a Hawaii owner/dealer, then no C&R license is needed.  You can handle it like a normal private or local dealer firearm transfer complete with permit and wait.

To register your out-of-state-purchased C&R firearm (long gun or pistol), you need to bring with you:

1.  Your C&R FFL License (bring a signed copy)
2.  The bill of sale and shipping document
3.  The name and address of the importer and/or seller (I was able to download the FFL certificate from the seller's site)
4.  Your valid Hawaii Long Gun Permit to Acquire
5.  A copy of the page from the ATF C&R List, proving the firearm qualifies under the C&R classification, and possibly other documentation showing the firearm conforms to a specific firearm description in the ATF list
6.  Your current photo ID
7.  The firearm's vital information  (manufacturer, model, action, type, barrel size, caliber, dates purchased and delivered, and serial number)
8.  The firearm itself,  for  inspection

No safety training certificate was required even though this is a pistol.

At the station, I did have to complete a registration application for out-of-state purchase, the standard forms for mental health, HMO, marijuana use, and the "are you a wanted criminal" questionnaire.   I think the health forms are unnecessary, since there is no waiting period.  Also, according to the ATF, no NICS background check is required for FFL holders when a purchase falls under the authority of the license.
