Stop SB 249!!
« on: July 02, 2012, 03:55:26 PM »
Sign the petition. Senator Yee wants to confiscate California gun owners firearms. Stop the bill or our state could be next. Remember if one person doesn't have their rights, none of us do.

The only required fields were name and email. I didn't put a zip code.

First time Linda Lingle ran for Governor, she wasn't elected, in part because she (or her campaign manager, who actually filled out the questionaire) gave the HRA a bunch of weasel words and the NRA endorsed Ben Cayetano.  Cayetano promised no new gun laws, and kept his promise.

If Liberals (like Thomas Jefferson ) are so bad, how do you explain (Republican NYC Mayor) Bloomberg?

In 2000 Cayetaneo supported both the yearly re-registration of firearms and limiting the sale of ammunition to those calibers a person had a legally registered gun for....yeah, he "kept his promise" but only because HRA fought to prevent him and other antigun groups for implementing more "gun control" measures....

Gov. Ben Cayetano, himself a gun owner, supports both re-registration and limiting the purchase of ammunition to registered gun owners.

I'm not exactly a fan of Ben (or our current Governor), but I also not really comfortable with the NRA becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of the Republican Party.  I'm still sore about Bush the Elder disallowing the importation of (affordable) guns and ammo from China, and then there's Sarah Brady.....

Traditionally (going back at least as far as the Ancient Greeks), it's been conservatives that have supported authoritarian governments and liberals who have championed the rights of common people to have weapons.  These days, of course, everyone in government is a Statist and most real liberals are too disgusted by the whole mess to actually participate.

Where do you get the idea that the NRA is (or will become) "...a wholly owned subsidiary of the Republican Party?" I have seen them rally for and against both Republican and Democratic candidates, depending on their stance on guns.....

As for the history of "Conservatives" (ie Republicans) and "Liberals" (ie Democrats) history on civil rights and gun issues, I think you may be slightly misinformed.....
