why eat dirty, nasty China food when we got a McDonalds. We wouldn't have this Wuhan virus if they only had a McDonalds with dollah menu....

Lagoon Restaurant off Lagoon drive has some pretty good stuff all around as far as Chinese food goes.

You wouldn't think it, but even the hamburger steak plate is top shelf.

Used to get small roast pork, choi sum, and cake noodles.   That'll place some meat on your bones, and slow that pesky free flow of blood through them arteries.

Their filthy kitchen is the key to awesome flavor.  Hehe.

Ate there for years ordering dinner for work.
Good stuff.

The dirtier the place, the better the food tastes.  My uncle's favorite was Tin Tin Chop Suey in Chinatown--the one where rats ran around in the dining room.  After I experienced that I was somehow always previously engaged when he wanted to go there--shucks!

Nothing wrong with rats. They're just another part of the ecosystem.
They also provide hours of entertainment for boys with guns.

Cats are around. You just don't recognize them after they are cooked.

Ya.  Discussed the conditions of typical Chinese restaurants when growing up with buddies.  What's behind the curtain in local Chinese and Korean is pretty  :o

Hmm, hamburger steak sounds good now.  I like choi sum and noodle dishes as well.  One of my fave is Bale in Kaneohe.

Back when there was Patti's Chinese Kitchen in Ala Moana Shopping Center, we were forbidden to go there by our friend's mom because she worked in the kitchen.

A million years ago when I used to work at Foodland my co-workers and I would go to the Chinese restaurant across the street on our lunch break.

The back delivery entrance faced us as we approached the restaurant and the owners let us pass through this entrance on our way to the dining area.

We actually pass through the heart of the kitchen and more often than not as we passed through we would see a raw butchered cow or hog half laying on the concrete floor.

The concrete floor was black with years of grease, grime, and of course, foot traffic.  And no, there was no cardboard barrier or linen cloth to protect the meat.

But funny, it never stopped us from visiting again.  We were young, broke, and the food was plentiful, cheap, and ono.

Almost a million years ago I had to do some welding in the kitchen of a Chinese restaurant in Aiea. I went in the morning before they opened for lunch. There was defrosting meat on the counter covered with dead bugs. When I was done, the lady there asked me if I wanted lunch . . . I said sure.

Are we supposed to be discussing Chinese Roast Pork?  :stopjack:

Yeah, there are a couple of places that I pick up food where I enter through a path that runs through the kitchen because the parking is in the back of the building.  One is a Korean place and another is a Chinese place.  Interesting what you'll see.  But, I saw it "supplemented" our immune systems.   ;D
