Silhouette range reopening??

Is anyone friends with the silhouette side guys and have an estimation of when there were going to reopen???
"The rifle is a weapon. Let there be no mistake about that. It is a tool of power, and thus dependent completely upon the moral stature of its user. It is equally useful in securing meat for the table, destroying group enemies on the battlefield, and resisting tyranny. In fact, it is the only means of resisting tyranny, since a citizenry armed with rifles simply cannot be tyrannized."

Since they are not open, and no info on when, can some other club take over?

They allow 22LR rifles as well.  Unless you're talking about 223, 308 type calibers.

At least allow small caliber like 223.

reason why they don't allow rifle calibers is that the steel targets will wear considerably faster

True, but they charge 5 bucks.  I cant imagine that being overrun in costs.  Wouldn't mind if they raised it to 10 if they allowed 223.

Isn't it a private club?  What does the city have to do with it?

Or in the meantime they should let people use pistols on the rifle side too if they already there with their longuns.

The city makes the rules. This subject was discussed some years ago on this forum.

I've seen people shooting AR pistol at silhouette and rifle caliber pistols. Probably cant shoot the smaller targets
You can shoot pistol at rifle side as long as you have an optic on the pistol

At least allow small caliber like 223.

Other problem is it's facing the low edge of the crater and Sandy's and homes are on the other side.

I'm guessing they club members don't want to run it with covid.  Most of them are old.

Another club could run it but it'd be a lot of work setting it up along with the trouble of finding volunteers.

Or if it's an age problem, we young guns could volunteer to run it for their club

We could do 2 man 4 hour shifts, requiring 8 volunteers for a weekend.  Add 2 more for contingencies for a total of 10 volunteers needed.  RSO certification would be required, not sure if there would be other requirements.  I can certify some RSOs.

If we can get the volunteers then I'd pay for the covid cleanup equipment.

If someone has contacts for the club, you can ask them to consider the proposal.

Thanks for the info! None of my semi autos have a optics cut, maybe I should look into those mounts that attach to the accessories rail and go over the top of the pistol.

How hard/expensive would it be to set up a few cameras along the firing line and facing the targets?  Have a few monitors in a "socially distanced and separate" area to protect the RSOs?  Use a Mic and speakers to communicate with shooters.  That, or a clear plexiglass booth for the RSOs to isolate them unless needed on the line.

There are ways to watch and manage the line without standing on the line.

Just thinking out loud.  A couple hundred bucks could get a decent surveillance system from Amazon or Costco with plenty of cameras for all angles/positions.  A bonus would be to have recording for training purposes and playback in case something happens.  All the cool ranges have CCTV on the firing line to monitor shooters.  Most don't need a person in that area -- just someone watching the monitor.

Going to be alot of tinfoil for shooters wanting to be videotaped and stored images of them shooting
