Didn't you read what I wrote? I had him do a custom live image like think newspaper on gun. With our names and time.

So, he's "offering" a gun for sale which he actually happens to own?

Man!  This guy is a criminal mastermind ... and an IT genius!  No wonder you were fooled!

Seriously, though, what was the firearm deal, and what was the price you settled on?

What's the market price for that gun?

Price agreed upon?

Don't be concerned with getting embarrassed.  You're already past that point of no return.

600 it was a bit low but was used.  Closest examples I found on gunbroker were new and 800ish

A more "seasoned" forum member would have been less likely to get scammed.  That's the kind of thing that comes with age and experience.  We're not as likely to make purchase decision unless we're 100% sure it'll be a success.

When anything about the deal doesn't feel right, just walk away.  Unless, of course, you're doing this so you can TEACH OTHERS on the forum what NOT to do.

I was going to suggest for next time, just give me your money, and I'll buy it for you, but that would be a straw purchase.  If we could, you'd get what you want, the seller would get paid, and I would keep what's left over.

They just need one fool target every so often to keep them going. . . sad

WTF were you thinking?  I mean I know someone who got scammed recently too.  He really liked this girl and wanted to get her flowers for Valentines and fell for one of those online pre-order things.  Quite elaborate as well with phantom shipping companies providing "confirmation" of delivery.  He only spent like $20.  I think he learned his lesson.  But again, understandable as he was 15. . .

Seriously, sorry to hear that you got scammed.  Hope you have learned from your experience.  From what you've posted here, I don't think you've fully learned.  Sometimes learning lessons the hard way is the best way to learn.  That's totally true for me in many cases.

I've been scammed before, guess I am too trusting.  Sometimes you take gambles for good deals,  I've won some and lost some.  Shit happens, it was 100$ because I wasn't sure.  I've lost more on one poker hand betting on a 25% flush.  Just have to trust my gut more and be more careful, getting too complaisant.  Don't want to get too down on this and move on.  I am probably minimalizing this just to feel a little better about being scamming, but in the end I  just thought I let everyone in the forum know so no one falls for the same scam.  Get all these bots banned cause they are trying to trick people by seeming real.

Yup I prefer this but sometimes locals just don't have same gun market as mainland.

I'll take calculated gambles on certain things.  However, over the years I have come to go with trusted vendors on certain items, even if they are at a premium.  I don't want any doubts about authenticity.  I had a couple of counterfeit golf clubs back in the day from eBay.  Luckily, eBay was pretty good about those things and I was able to get full refunds.  In both cases, the seller tried the excuse of "we bought these items at closeout from another business that went out of business, so we couldn't verify the authenticity".  For guns stuff, optics, etc, I definitely go with trusted sources.  Amazon is actually one that I've taken chances on deals and I've actually thrown away a bunch of crap that I received.  Yeah, live and learn.

Up to you to continue to try for deals, but then you'll be putting yourself at risk for getting taken advantage of again.  Don't get complacent. . .

That you're "probably minimalizing" because of your feelings is why I said I don't think you've fully learned from this experience.  That's on you though.

Put out a realistic list of WTB, and I think you'll get realistic feedback.  Also, don't be a tool (like you have been) and I think folks will start taking you more seriously.

Personally, I have long have what I "need" and a lot of what I want.  I don't think I would sell many guns.  There's maybe one or two that I might consider, but it would be at a premium.
