Get this. The Democrats found a little known section in the 14th amendment. Paraphrasing it says if someone commits an insurrection against our government you can no longer run for office. They have a house race in one of the states that they know is not going to go their way and it is going to turn red. He is a no name but he is polling big against the Democrat incumbent. I wish I could remember the name and the state. They have his social media posts showing that he supported and cheered on the people who rioted on the capital on Jan 6. I am guessing but apparently he pretty much approved of what they did that day. The Democrats are going to try and change the definition of insurrection in order to apply it to this candidate so they can have the courts force him out of the race. This is a trial run. If they are successful they will apply this same definition of insurrection to Trump to try and make the courts force him out from being a candidate in 2024. Is that underhanded or what?
Whenever I was involved in security clearance investigations, the standard was 18 U.S. Code § 2385 - Advocating overthrow of Government.
It's not enough to say, "I agree with and/or support the actions they took to protest the stolen 2020 election." They have to also have participated in some way with the protest or been affiliated with one of the groups present, AND they must have advocated for the riot to happen as well as any attempt to stop the electoral college's activities.
They can't decide what anyone not onsite posted online was insurrection or an attempt/conspiracy to cause the insurrection without additional proof.
This whole thing reminds me of some SciFi shows where the people being controlled were turning in the outsiders who didn't walk, talk and believe as they were required to. If you voice any opinion opposing the "supreme leader", you are branded a traitor and punished. It's not enough to behave as they say. You must also speak and think as they say. Deviation from that is not tolerated and dealt with severely.
Believing the election was illegitimate, and that the investigations were shoddy and shams themselves, is justification in many people's opinions to try and prevent the Senate from completing the electoral college count. That opinion in no way advocates for the riot -- merely the protest.
