Are my office protocols working?
Gerbel wheel is spinning.
So I and another had covid and came into the office unknowingly. Our office does temp checks every morning when first arriving to work, which we both passed. That really is the only protocol that we have. The lunch room has reopened many months ago. People do wear their mask, combo of good and shit mask. My coworker who brought it in, didn't have a fever in the AM, but did around 3pm that day. Which means the morning temp protocol didn't work. And I never had a fever, so the morning temp protocol never worked.
Both of us do not eat in the lunch room and stay at out desk most of the day. I wear a good mask 100% of the time, but he does so about 50/50. As in he has a N95 mask, but also wears a cloth mask.
I am also the only one who sprays disinfectant in the common surfaces like type writers, xerox machine, door handles, mail boxes, etc...My office does not do this, I do it. So combine what me and the other worker do to mitigate the spread, sounds more like our own voluntary actions is the reason why our office didn't have an outbreak.
The other 2 who caught covid, did so coming back from vacation. Which our office makes anyone who traveled out of state test neg b4 coming back into the office. So this protocol works. But both had symptoms, so would they have stayed home is the question? I think they both would have stayed home. I went to Vegas twice in the past month and this is a real PITA to do. I have to allow 3 extra days off due to the office requirement of testing 3 days after landing back in Hawaii.
