+1   I've had $4.00 cigars that I enjoyed far more than $40.00 ones. Add some jack daniels to your last sentence and it sums it all up for me  :shaka:

$40 cigars?  Dayum.  Most of the ones my friends and I are in the $5-10 range with the occasional one up to maybe $15 max and that's retail shops.  If we buy online, we usually save quite a bit.  But like alcoholic beverages, sometimes you just have to try for yourself.

Actually I can't take credit for buying that $40 one. It was a gift, I usually stick to the $10-$25 range cause I don't buy them that often.

The only thing I know about cigars nowadays is that cigar stores are good places to buy those cheap little hygrometers.  I keep one near my guns.

I used to enjoy a good cigar + some Drambuie after a good restaurant meal, but that's it.

I do believe that the radical and crazy notion that the Founders meant what they said, is gradually soaking through the judicial system.

This thread was started 9 years ago.
But the topic is timeless.
My grandfather would sit on the front porch of the Kula house and smoke his paka...60 years ago.
I remember enjoying a cigar after the pistol shoots at Schofield about 40 years ago.
I've had some really great cigars recently....and some real crappy ones too.
Sunday afternoons at the range was a tradition until the virus.

I gave up cigars for the most part last fall.  I have limited things to a box around New Years.  But yeah, cigars are relaxing and bonding activity.

I like to get there early. Set up my bench. Eat my egg mcmuffin or spam musubi. Enjoy a cigar with some coffee. Then I know I'm going to shoot good that day.  :shaka:

Hey look its a throwback thread! I had to give up the stogies because it was affecting my surfing performance especially in bigger waves. Guys like Nathan Fletcher can handle cigs but for mere mortals like myself even the second hand stuff gets me winded easier. I still have the memories of some amazing cigars and it looks like that will have to do.

I worked late last night, so I went home and hooked up my doggy and went to the park around midnight.
Weather was nice and cool, but not windy. The dog was happy to be out and about.
The cigar du jour was a cheap dominican called "Respect". It was a churchill size stick.
The wrapper tasted young and green, aroma was great and the taste was mild and pleasant.
I notice a lot of no-name cigars are rolled with immature leaves nowadays. I suspect if this was allowed to age a few years, it would be really good.

Even some pricey cuban cigars are being sold too young. I recently came upon a box of cuban hoyo de monterrey. They are beautiful but tasted too young. Those will be wonderful in a few years.

For the novice, try the drew estate cigarillos, if you can find them.

A consistent winner is La Gloria Cubana. Try the series R.

I also used to enjoy La Gloria Cubana. Really good cigars. I am now an ex-smoker but the desire to light up is still there.
