Me too.  A bunch of friends are getting into cigars recently.  I used to have one here and there when I was just out of college and working as a consultant.  Our clients would take us out to nice restaurants and offer cigars.  I was just 22 and didn't know shat about cigars, well I still don't.  All I remember is that there were different drinks for certain cigars.  Port wine, scotch, etc.

Lately we've been buying a lot of different cigars from Arturo Fuente.  My buddy's favorite is the King Bee and I like the Hemingways.  I also like the Macanudo Maduro Classic Vintage (or something like that).  From another gun forum, I've heard that Padron and CAO are pretty good.  We bought a sampler recently that had those brands, but not sure which particular ones we had.   None of them really impressed me enough to buy more though.

I recommend going to check out Tobacco's of Hawaii on Atkinson.  The guys there are pretty cool and they have a decent selection and decent prices.  But like guns, it's an expensive hobby.  I drink whiskey on occasion as well, amongst other types of alcohol.

Are you going to the LIFE Fun Shoot next Sunday?  You volunteered at the SSF, right?  If you go, try talking to Marshall about cigars.  I haven't yet, but I've seen him smoking a cigar here and there.

Liga Privada T-52 is all the rage but expensive. Very dark and oily and the smoke is kinda blue. May not be for a beginner as it's on the stronger side but incredibly smooth. I'm halfway through one right now and will finish after dinner. They are always way better after food.

Awesome!

If you're not opposed to ordering online then try and visit sites like jr cigar, cigar international, famous cigar and purchase some samples. Try and get something in each strength and try different wrappers to find what you like.

Arturo Fuente is my favorite brand, consistent and not too pricey like other brands. Plus they have lots of lines but it's hard to keep up.

Tobaccos of Hawaii on Atkinson is a great shop along with cigar cigar on south king.

My buddy has been ordering for a bunch of us and we split.  He's been ordering from jr cigar and Neptune Cigar.  A few of us just ordered humidors from Neptune Cigar.  I bought one for me and one for my father.  He was just storing them in ziploc bags.

Yes I'll be at the fun shoot next Sunday. I'll try talking to Marshall. I know what I like the problem is I don't remember what I had previously. I think I just need to dive in to this even if it means only having one once a week. My wife and I don't make much here in Hawaii and she has been laid off for 2 or 3 months. She is starting a new job today. So maybe I'll be able to afford a good cigar occasionally. My problem is I like buying and shooting guns more than just about anything. Guess I have an addiction?

Been smoking the old stogies for over 20 years. If you are just getting into the "sport", I recommend that you try as many different cigars as you can and keep the label for future reference because its awfully hard to remember the names of the ones you like. Forget what people say about what you should smoke. Everyone's palette is different. I settled on Punch Rothschilds because they are mid-full cigars with a length and ring gauge of 4.5X50 so they are just right for a 45 minute smoke.

Right now, I have more Scotch than guns but I think that will change very soon. My stash  includes, The Glenlivit, Ardbeg (Uigeadail & Supernova), Caol Ila, Oban (14 yr and 1993), Scapa, Glenmorangie, Balwinie, Lagavulin (16yr and 1991 Double Matured) and Edradour.  Just finished a bottle of a Japan version named Yoko..something. If you are starting off, you don't need something exotic. The Glenlivit is readily available at your local supermarket and, believe it or not, is ranked high among Scotchdrinkers and is reasonably priced.

I do enjoy a fine cigar also....have a substantial collection in a humidor made from an old aquarium. Also have a generous stash of single malt, fine brandy and cognac, and good ole Jack Daniels to go with those great cigars. We used to attend the events hosted by R. Field back in the 90's. Those were good times at fine dining venues. I used to enjoy having a fine cigar at the pistol or rifle range while shooting or after shooting.  Then the smoking ban kicked in and killed it all....ggrrrr :(

Been enjoying cigars for about 10 years.  I like mild cigars, champagne style, sun wraps...I do enjoy having a presidente or Solomon style ever so often.  I keep on hand about 25 sticks in a humidor.

My brother and friend got me somewhat into cigars. Last night we were chillin at my friend's house in Ewa smoking Arturo Fuentes with some Maker's Mark. It was a good time.

I only smoke maybe one a week and that's only if we're golfing or having a BBQ or something social like that.

Yes, you have an addition that most of us here have.  My problem is that buying guns is just one of my expensive hobbies.

There are many guys who smoke at the range.  They are usually well behind the line when they do so.  I don't smoke at the range and don't know the rules, but I don't see a problem with it as long as they aren't smoking right next to me.

I should bring a few to the fun shoot this Sunday for you and the Inspector to try.  Will probably have to skip the whiskey though.

Anyone interested in setting up a cigar trade program?  I'd love to smoke cigars and talk guns at range one-day.

After getting a bench at 5am on a weekend, there's plenty time to smoke while waiting for the range to open.

Sounds like you guys are off to a great start. Make sure you guys season your humidors before placing cigars in them  I tried to buy a humi for my dad, he told me not to waste my money and asked me for one of my cigars lol, he makes it hard for me to give him a simple gift sometimes  :(

Remember that a fancy label, a premium price tag or high end review shouldn't mean anything to anyone. A $1 cigar could taste just as good and be as pleasing to one person as a $20 cigar is to another. Try everything, find and smoke what you like and don't waste any time smoking anything you don't. Life is too short to be smoking dog rockets   :shaka:

I'd be down for a cigar trade! Except I no longer have much to trade anymore. I'm left with my few that I had planned to smoke off in hopes of quitting cigars. Buuuuut I don't think I'll be quitting anytime soon haha. I hope to be able to smoke with a few or all of you some day, I'd love to hear some real gun talk!

Yep your right cigars that had a 90+ rating I have not always enjoyed.  They may not have flavors that I enjoy.  Sad to say I used to enjoy vanilla Cigarillo that I used to get from 7-11.  Even Cubans cigars while very potent and clean tasting all have not been good.  But nothing beats a nice smoke outside when its nice a cool out.

Yea sometimes I still get suckered into trying and buying expensive cigars because of the rating but half the time they disappoint. It sucks for now because I have to choose between buying more ammo or restocking my humi lol.

Btw, anyone want to buy a 250ct treasure dome humi? I need down size a bit.

I collect cigars but don't smoke them frequently, I usually smoke out of pipes. I have quite a few meerschaum carved pipes that are new if anyone is interested. Check out smspipes.com to check the carve designs, if there's any you like I probably have it, Lmk if your interested. Has anyone here tried the man o war cigars or gurkha black dragons?

Yes I have had both, the man o and the dragon.  Got them from cigars international if recall for cheap in the 5 pack.  The man o is milder than the ghurka.  I bought a buncgvif ghurkas thinking the price us expensive must be good...they are to strong for me I get headaches.  Im waiting for all the holiday specials to stock up.

+1   I've had $4.00 cigars that I enjoyed far more than $40.00 ones. Add some jack daniels to your last sentence and it sums it all up for me  :shaka:
