Don't fistfight a man holding a knife

Multiple people at a rally surround a single counter protestor and he pulls out a knife after someone pushes him. The crowd still stays close and tries to pull his mask off and hits him in the head. He tries to run away and they chase him with the whole thing ending up on the ground. Police intervene but 4 people end up getting stabbed. Knives are no joke as a self defense tool, never try to fistfight against a man with a knife unless you absolutely have to.

Don't know if there are more videos that are going to show anything different but this looks like it might be the left's Kyle Rittenhouse. Will update if I find more videos.

In a state like Hawaii where only criminals and LEO can carry guns, the law abiding folks like us should carry pepper spray and a good SD knife. Not all knives are designed for SD. I know one guy who told me he carries a knife for protection and showed me a folding fruit knife.  You know the ones with a real weak skinny NON-LOCKING blade, the kind that would probably snap stabbing thru a leather jacket.

He'll get off.  All it takes is a minimally-skilled public defender to get one juror to believe the knife was a toy.

So, if this counter-protestor had killed one, of those proud boys, in the name of self-defense, will everyone, on this forum, support his claim?

If the action had been in actual self-defense and he felt he was at risk of death or severe injury, then of course.

But, the Proud Boys are nearly always the ones on defense.  I've never seen a fight reported that they started.

You can't attack another party and then claim self defense because you lost the fight.  This, however, is often ANTIFA's M.O  They do just enough violence to provoke a response, and then cry victim.  Of course, only the part of the video that shows the provoked response gets released to the media and SM right away.

Looks like he was defending himself.  As the evidence stands right now I would support him.  Proudboys appear to be the aggressor here.

I supported Kyle cause he also appears to be on the defensive.

I think both sides have plenty bad apples.

Your friend is on to something.  HI also defines a "dangerous or deadly weapon" as something diverted from its intended use or sole purpose is to cause harm.  So all those karabet's are probably illegal to carry because reason #2.  But a fruit knife or a "utility" knife is g2g.  Even a knife that has no description.  I found my TDI KBar might be questionable.  "to be used for self defense" is the description.

^^This, if the antifa was the aggressor prior to the altercation, then he cannot claim self defense.  What is antifa's MO?  Just an idea, not a group right.

What would make it difficult to prove if he did start the altercation is because they all dress the same.  This is the main reason for their "uniform".  Their leaders are on camera telling the group this so cops or anyone can't ID them.

Neither was proven guilty in court.  How can you make such a rash decision?  Wait for a guilty verdict.

Around 2004, one of my employees who was 22 at that time, actually called HPD if there was a blade limit on what you could carry since I told him there was none.  The officer said no blade limit.  Thereafter he carried around a Cold Steel katana, 37 inch overall and I the blade was 24 inches.  It came with a canvas sheath and shoulder strap.  He walked all around Kailua with it and never got stopped or questioned by anyone.  Now the only practical use for that is to dismember someone.

For karambits, watch out how you carry. I’ve seen many folks “ventilate” their shorts/pants. 🙄

But yeah, karambits are nasty, or can be.

Try reading the law instead of "thinking".  You're not very good at the latter.

Nunchucks are not deadly nor dangerous, its on the bottom of the hrs law as case notes. I would think because martial arts is a sport/art. So a katana would fall into that  until an aggressor uses it in a non-art manner.

Same with a diving knife which is often sharp on both sides. Which is also the definition of a dagger (illegal). Diving knife is g2g.
