I needed some 357 magnum brass as I was running low. So I bought some once fired range brass online. Paid a decent price for it as the price is quite high right now. I bought 1,000 and went through and processed them. I found one or two 38 Spl and one or two nickel plated. It’s okay because they sent me 1,020 to make up for any bad ones. So while I was reloading 357 this week I ran into 3 Starline cases that had worn out primer pockets. I set them aside and looked at them this morning and I realized that they didn’t have worn out pockets but they were Large Primer Pockets! Now I have not seen large primer pockets on 357 magnum brass for over 40 years. Apparently I was sent a few of someone’s very old hand loaded brass. I used to separate out all my 357 magnum brass 40+ Years ago to keep the small primer brass and large primer brass separate. I even went out to Starline’s website this morning. They don’t even offer a large primer pocket 357 magnum. I figure the brass must be at least 40 years old if not more. It’s too bad because I like Starline brass and the only reason I didn’t buy from them as they were out and I wanted them right away.

I paid $60/1000 back in May/June timeframe. Same company has them right now for $70/500 and they are out of stock. And back then I paid $35-$40/1000 for 9mm but right now they are $60/1000. And they have plenty in stock.

Dirty, unprocessed. But this last batch was not too dirty. Some batches I got were DIRTY! The sell processed brass too but it is much more expensive.

There is an LGS here that sells range brass per piece. They have a big box of each caliber. You can dig through and get all one headstamp if you want.
