I don't know the details about homeschooling, but from I've heard yeah it is a big legal pain. I'm currently getting my certification to be a high school teacher here. I have a lot of weird views on schooling. I think homeschooling should be easy to do, with few to no legal requirements. Practically anyone that wants to homeschool their kids, in however way they want, should be allowed to IMO.

I also think that kids shouldn't have to go to school if they (or their parents) don't want them to, etc. Well in reality they don't anyway, the system is just set up to make it seem as if they do. If I didn't want my kid to go to school, I would just give him a BB gun and tell him to wave it around in class, then he will get the mandatory 1-year suspension. Then I guess I could homeschool him without any legal paperwork.

PeaShooter, I totally see where you are coming from.  I recently heard of "unschooling" (http://www.unschooling.com/).  Anyone else familiar with it?  I wouldn't have the balls to do something like that since I like routine, structure, etc.  But I think those parents should have the right to unschool if that's what they want to do.  I like where they said on the website, "Unschooling doesn't mean not being a parent".

I am fascinated that you have this opinion yet want to be a teacher!  Props to you for wanting to educate Hawaii's teens!  Good luck, lol.

TLC, finally a lady gun owner on the forum.

Don't be bashful, got anything to say, say it.

I/we want/need more women to join and get active in firearms ownership and especially 2A politics.

Hoping you are a HRA/NRA member.

Come out to the HRA fun shoots.

Hopefully, you and the Wife and other gals can get together.

Hey everyone. After moving here from the East Coast for work, I was more than a little surprised to find out how strict the gun laws were out here. I'm glad to find some like minded people in the last place I happened to look... the Internet. I'm a firm believer in "Rights and Responsibility" and would love to see or rather not see CCW in Hawaii's future. Mahalo, Koa Moku.

Aloha

I moved here from Cali. I'm a veteran and staunch supporter of 2A and CCW..  I live on the Big Island, so no gun range available unfortunately..
