My Mosin

Hello,

It was suggested I post some Mosin pictures.  I apologize in advance for the screw heads; they were taken apart literally hundreds of times.  I've since replaced them and found a proper bit for my torque wrench that will not cause damage to the new ones!

Front view of the prototype that started my business...

... and the rear.

The action is shimmed and the barrel corked:

I also made some cool things like a two-stage Finn M39-style trigger.  Instead of pins, it has bearings :D

You can barely see a couple bearings under the sear.

I'm not going to risk selling it though.  Liability.  Dangit.

This rifle is capable of this (or rather, I'm capable of doing this, with my 20/55 sight; I'm sure the rifle's much better):

I had to work for that group, but as long as I have a target I can see, I can do about that.  I take coyotes at 200 yards.  That's about as far as I can see, uncorrected.

I know what these rifles can do and I love to see folks wring them out.  Heck, a Finnish M39 had to have at least a 1.3MOA capability to be accepted into service!

I like what you did to the trigger there. When I took mines apart to clean I was like wow, this is a easy functioning trigger. Looks even better after its tweaked. Must be more smooth.

Re: liability,

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to do this, but if I had some awesome idea about a firearm, built it, patented it, and people wanted it, I'd probably try to license it out to a very well established manufacturer with big pockets.  I'm sure they'd cut a decent deal, and the goober with the screwdriver and lawyer would go after the manufacturer.  Just my thoughts on the subject.  You're already a LLC, but I understand the fear of possibly losing your business over a bubba-gunsmith.

Nice pics, Josh.

Is that an aftermarket sear? I bent my OEM sear and reinstalled it without the shim and the trigger now feels a lot better. There's a little slack in the trigger so I need to install a trigger spring and am looking at common house hold items with a spring that I may use. Where did you get your spring?

Hello,

The spring is from C&R surplus.  You can also make one by twisting a paperclip around a pin or punch to shape it, then torch and quench it a few times.  The last time you'll want to let it air cool.

Not the best spring in the world, but it works.  The C&R is very light; that's why I use it for the role I do:  It smooths things out nicely.
