Definitely. Give HDF a try. Good to get out and shoot.
If you need a carrot, do you shoot 9 mm?
Thanks! I am interested in the HDF and also the HRA fun shoots they hold periodically. I think I'll show up for the fun shoots one day, as the skill builders require equipment (holsters, mag holders, etc) that I don't have (yet).
Although I own 2 revolvers (SA .22 LR and a SW29) I consider them "range toys". The SA.22 is only for plinking because it's role as a defensive handgun is unpractical. The SW29 is just too f*ckn huge to even think of it as a carry weapon, lol! Both are range toys and were bought for that purpose. They will serve as HD weapons if the need be though.
As far as 9mm? I pulled the trigger so to speak a couple of weeks ago and bought a SIG P365. I'm still in the waiting period of the PTA. While I was at it I also bought a Walther P22, again for mostly a range toy and also for HD, along with the SIG.
So this old fut is just only now showing interest in skill building as far as defensive handgun. I still need to acquire holster, mag holders, belt, etc and also work on my basic safe handling of auto pistols since I've never owned one before. By the way, I bought the SIG TACPAC, it comes with 3 -12 rd. mags with finger extensions but blocked for 10 rds. and it also has a holster lots of people in the know say that is not that great. But for me as a novice it should do ok, I think.
I see myself at the KHSC pistol side for the time being getting familiar with the SIG and Walther.
Does anyone know if the HRA or HDF fun shoots and skill builders allow people to just observe before participating? I'd like to do that but don't want them to think I'm one of those weird f*cks.
Retirement is wonderful. I can do what I want, when I want and sometimes, BUY what I want!
