Sometimes it's those that think they know it all, think they are safe that are the worst.  "I've been doing this my whole life holstering my 1911 from the slide with my pinky in the trigger guard".  "I've been trained by the military/scouts/etc and have been doing this for years".

Yep. Same people who limp wrist their guns who claim to be space shuttle door gunners...

Rifle side, RO said there was seven incidents with new people. I was lane 82 so I didn't see it but heard the commotion.

I remember when the race track was here, for noobs, they had a noob session that they would take you on in the soccer mom van. But it was good because it only took like 10 mins and you won't make mistakes and hold up the line.

The problem is it is 100% voluntary. And those who didn't take the noob session wasn't known  until they screw up at the start line and waiting area. Then they kick you out for the night.

So maybe this would be a good thing to do. Only should take less than 5 minutes to explain the rules. Because apparently, many are not reading the board, nor come with someone who knows the rules, who can explain it to them.  So on the PA system an announcement a few times an hour for any ones who it's their 1st time, see the RO.

This goes back to my recommendation that the range have a training video each person must watch and be issued a range card.  Then you show the card when signing in.  If you can't show it, you can have them look you up, or take the training again.  The video takes no more than 10 minutes, and it covers range rules, the basics of firearm safety, targets, etc.  They can also make that available on the website, and track who completes it.  The range card can then be issued on their next visit without watching it again.

It would increase safety at the range significantly.  It would also provide an orientation of the range for new visitors.  The whole process could be incorporated into the handgun affidavit program so new shooters already have their cards issued.

the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

Clark County range has a vid on YT (Vegas). IDK if they make noobs watch it, but I called and asked what their rules are and the lady assumed I was from HI.

My local indoor range has the form you fill out online. You fill it out prior to watching the 15 minute safety video. After you watch it they make the form searchable and then every time you come to the range they look you up by name and assign you a lane.
