good idea by drck1000 to do a discussion on what you think is better:  1911, Hi Power, or CZ
I have never shot a Hi Power or CZ, only a lot of 1911's.  so this will be a learning thread for me about the other 2 guns
I did not know how popular the Hi Power is world wide in various military's around the globe until i just watched a few videos about the gun.  I don't know many people that own Hi Powers, or CZ's either.  but I do know many that own 1911's.  maybe that's a USA thing, i'm not sure

what are your opinions on which gun is the best, and why

Never shot a hi power before. Only shot a couple different 1911s and polymer cz's.

I voted for cz.

Never shot a high power but got a couple of Dan Wessons and a CZ Shadow 2 Orange.  Both the CZ and 1911s shoot good.  If I had to choose I’d go with the Shadow 2.

I have a les Baer premier ii, a cz75 shadow and a custom ish Belgian BHP. (Dan Williams tuned, cut for trijicon sights a d redone in black t)

I'd take the hi power every day. They just feel right to me. Also you can run 38 super in the BHP if you can find an old barsto barrel used. You have to hand loads for it and run a stubby bullet but it used to be fair common back in the 60-70s

Suffice to say they are at least three of my top five favorites.

I'll def contribute more direct feedback when I have more time. That said, I own 1911 and CZ75B Shadow II Target, both in 9 mm.  If I had a BHP in 9 mm, then I'd have a good baseline.  That said, comparing my RIA 1911 to my CZ75 is like asking a Toyota Tercel to race a Fast & Furious type Integra.

Nothing to report, really. I don't shoot a ton. I've had it since 1996 though. It's kind of a bitch to break down for cleaning so I don't clean as often as I should

I put the Cajun gun works kit in my shadow a year ago and haven't even shot it since. I hope the hammer spring isn't too light 😬

This is kinda tough cuz the one CZ I have shot was stock and while it is a fine weapon it did not have a refined trigger. Same for the BHP. I have one and I love it. But I always wonder what it would be like if I just had a trigger job and maybe better sights. The problem with the 1911 is I have shot a lot of different 1911’s all the way from WWII relics to Les Baer and Wilson customs. And those customs spoil the heck out you. Because once you have shot a custom you don’t want anything else less.

So it is hard to to compare for me.

The CZ just begs to snap off doubles.
No recoil at all with that heavy frame weight thing. It really is a lovely pistol but the BHP has a little JM Browning magic and some interesting history

I had a cmp 1911. My frame sn came to something like 1914. It ran like a sewing machine. I sold it because I didn't want it to rust away here and shouldn't have. It was dumb

At least it works every time.  I can't say that of my 1911.

Colt.  Not that it fails often but 1 or 2 times is more than my glock has ever failed.

Interesting.   By any chance were you using cheap under powered ammo and hadn’t cleaned it in a long time?
