I’m wrong for suggesting something could be misconstrued ?
OK.

I’m not saying they didn’t go overboard (MSNBC and whoever went to the Secret Service ) but when you put the President’s name where Fire normally would be on the safety it could be misconstrued.
Just my opinion.
You're wrong, because how other people MAY construe your political speech should never be a consideration -- at all. it's your story. Tell it however you want.
If you think you can walk on eggshells -- trying to not offend someone or have your message misconstrued -- you've learned nothing. If you try to do that, you're already voluntarily restricting your own freedom of speech and expression. The politically Left and anti-Gun types will always be able to spin everything you say and do, even if they have to lie.
In my opinion, they are hurting their own position by giving this story more exposure publicly, and by demonstrating to others how unhinged they are. Anyone who sees this will know that what they pretend is "horribly bad" with the words on the receiver is a massive exaggeration.
Nobody killed dozens in Las Vegas using a rifle with "F---", "Country" and "Music" etched on the receiver. No terrorist I've ever read about engraved "F---", American" and "Infidels" on an AR-15. Words on a gun are decorations. None of them change the function of the weapon nor the thoughts of the user. Worrying about them is ridiculous. No different than trying to ban guns with specific cosmetic or ergonomic features, like pistol grips, barrel shrouds, flash hiders, bayonet lugs and adjustable butt stocks.
