That would be the most likely explanation. Either that or he had precancerous polyps removed before and is recommended for more common screenings.

Either way glad he doesn't have colon cancer.

Because (1) Biden transferred his powers (including Commander in Chief) to Harris while he was anesthetized, and (2) if anything happened that Biden slipped into a coma, died or in any other way became incapacitated, the country would want to know why this situation wasn't made public before it became a major problem.

Sometimes staying quiet and hoping nobody notices doesn't work.  Harris assuming the role of Acting President would become a matter of public record.  Someone somewhere would have stumbled across that no matter how far down in the news it was buried.
