I Caught Covid
« on: January 02, 2022, 10:14:50 PM »
Well, it is official, I caught covid. The source isn't know, could have been an asymptomatic person around me, could have been my neighbors kid who had it (even though I didn't come into contact with him.)
1st Night: Had aches and chills one night that I would say were like an average flu. Got tested the next day.
2nd day I had moderate aches and a headache, tylenol really helped make that mild.
3rd day still had some aches and headache but were light. Took a half tylenol dose and did some woodworking.
4th day I feel 95%. If I worked hard at anything I felt a little tired or nauseas.

I was vaccinated in May, no booster. Test results didn't say if it was omicron or not. Luckily no other symptoms, especially coughing or sneezing which would probably have spread it more.
Wife had a cough but she tested negative. Kids no symptoms so we aren't even going to bother to test them.

I think I had it in Feb 2020 but never tested so can't say for certain.

Vaccinated people are more likely to get covid and have a worse outcome, so no surprise.

I'll stick with my horse medicine. So far so good.

Hope you feel better soon.
Stop blaming lazy people. We didn’t do anything.

No one should wish ill on anyone just because they have a difference of opinion (other than "killing is fun" .... that opinion requires more than "ill wishes!)

It's crazy that so many on the Left celebrate when someone who leans Conservative gets the virus -- even if they were vaccinated.  They also blame every person in the country who isn't vaccinated for infecting all the vaccinated who experience "break through" infections.  We know vaccinated people can contract and spread COVID.

The divisiveness caused by the politicization of COVID is unbelievable -- yet, it's on full display every single hour of every day.

Obviously, the vaccine is not something we can trust will protect us.  Israel is now doing clinical studies on using a FOURTH BOOSTER.  At some point, you can't honestly call something that doesn't really boost the effectiveness of an initial injection a "booster."  These are nothing more than re-vaccinations that are given to force the body into producing antibodies periodically after the previous dose loses its strength -- not much different that the annual flu vaccines.  I've never seen any calls for "Flu Booster Shots."  Each one is independent from previous shots in terms of immunity response.

As with most things in life, you decide what's right for you, you do it, and if the bad thing still happens, at least you did as much as you could short of developing your own vaccine or pulling a "Howard Hughes."

There's been a rise in the number of cases across the US in December, some states seeing record numbers.  Maybe these new variants have more effective methods of transmission than before?

p.s.  Wash those filthy hands!

I don’t wish ill will on anyone. Your family and your health are the most important things in life. JMHO

My family in Israel are not vaccinated. They are not allowed to go a lot of places. They are prejudiced against and shunned by people and the government. For those who believe in a Democracy over a Republic form of government, if you prefer Democracy, this is what you are going to get. I love Israel as a country but being a Democracy means the government can run roughshod over you and any rights you think you might have.

They already got COVID and now have natural immunity. Fortunately, Israel is coming around to the Natural immunity way of thinking. So I think things might open up for my family again. In the meantime the new missiles that are being launched from Gaza and Palestinian Territories can now reach where they live. Frightening. 😱

Sorry to hear that EEF, glad you're getting better and quickly.  I only have 1 friend who's had a headache while having COVID. But she usually gets headaches when she's sick.  She also was on Ivermectin and it made the headache worst, after day 2 or 3 of treatment, she had to stop usage.  But she's find now, just feeling run down, like normal after being sick.

Sorry to hear that as well EEF.  Glad to hear you're on the mend, seems like nothing serious and most importantly your family wasn't affected.  Hope if didn't put too much of a damper on your holidays.

A coworker went to CA on vacation early to mid December and came back with COVID.  She mentioned similar progression as you described, mainly that headache and coughing bad for Day 1, but then quickly dissipated days 2-5 until back to "about 100%".  Then a buddy's MIL had what she described as bad head cold and didn't feel that bad.  Got tested and got POS result Christmas Eve, so that put a damper on things that weekend.

To the OP, sorry you caught the virus and am glad you are on the mend and that your wife and children seem to not be affected.  Wishing you and your family well.

I'd like to share a covid situation currently affecting my immediate family:

So my family (my kids, their families, and in-laws) gathered at my house this Christmas Holiday.  There were 20 of us and we pitched tents outside behind my house.

One of my daughters husband got real sick the next day and tested positive for covid.  When he notified his work, they mentioned several other workers tested positive also.

My family all notified each other and we all isolated.  So far nobody else tested positive nor showed any symptoms except my poor daughter's family.  Her husband isolated himself in the bedroom to protect his family but soon my daughter got sick.  So her kids (my grandaughter and grandson) were ordered to isolate themselves in their rooms while my daughter stayed in the living room.  But alas, my grandaughter got sick and now my poor grandson is sick.

They are all experiencing flu like symptoms but they all tested positive for covid, according to the home test kits.

Since then, my daughter and my grandkids are feeling better everyday.  But her poor husband is still struggling to the point where doctor was notified and he was given prescription medication, some kind of steroids.  My daughter and grandkids just took tylenol and made sure they are hydrated.

My wife tested negative 2 times on home kits and tested negative when I brought her to the appointment testing site in PC.  We feel fine.  No symptoms.  Rest of my other family members are doing fine so far.

All of us are vaxxed except two family members and when we checked on them they are reporting no symptoms and both of them tested negative.

My wife and I are on call to buy food and supplies for my one daughter who is struggling with covid.  I just checked with her and she and the kids are getting better.  Poor husband still not feeling that great.

Sometimes you gotta know when to save your bullets.

We had a family party on Xmas day.
We were all told to report early in order to take a covid test.
Everybody was negative.
So since everybody had a covid test lollipop I decided to repurpose mine.
You know how you put your can of soda down at a party then you can't remember if it's yours?
