Nice job of convoluting my initial question and deflecting to avoid answering that question which did not reference Hawaii at all.

Once again, how can you on one side support all of the illegal wars, invasions, and occupations the US empire has partaken in your lifetime against Iraq, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, etc. and condemn the Russians that you feel is doing the same to Ukraine?

You asked an unintelligent, irrational question that made a lot of assumptions about a lot of things unrelated to Ukraine.

I'll indulge you on the Iraq issue, but I'm not going to revisit every US-involved military action in the Middle East for the past 4 or 5 decades.

Iraq violated the restrictions placed on them after they used military force to illegally invade Kuwait.  Do you not remember all the times President Clinton gave the order to shoot down Iraqi jets when they violated the UN No-Fly zone?  It was an Iraqi jet that hit the USS Stark sitting in the Persian Gulf during the Iran-Iraq war.  37 US Navy personnel died either in the attack of afterward from their injuries.  Another 21 were injured but survived.

I was in Saudi Arabia when that happened.  We were supposed to be Iraqi allies.  Yet, when the ship was hit with 2 missiles, Iraq lied about it several times until the AWACS data proved what really happened.  That was May 1987, long before they invaded Kuwait.  When I say they, I mean Saddam Hussein who lied saying that the pilot mistook the Stark for an Iranian tanker.  Given the Stark's position, the flight path and firing position of the jet, and the fact they never transmitted a radio warning to the ship to identify herself, it was clear they knew it was not an Iranian ship of any kind.

U.S. officials claimed that the Iraqi jet's pilot was not acting under orders from his government and that he was later executed, but an Iraqi Air Force officer later stated that the pilot was not punished and was still alive.

So, we knew Iraq was our enemy, but the attack and lies were causing a breakdown in the alliance.  Their invasion into Kuwait was the last straw.  After that, the US , through the UN, was allowed to continue hostilities to keep Saddam Hussein coloring inside the lines.

War is not fair nor legal or illegal.  It's about doing what it takes to get your side ahead and being strong enough so others don't mess with you.

Look throughout history and it's the case from biblical times to now.

Russia might have just launched the world's first ICBM attack. No word on RT yet so it's not really confirmed.

On the bright side we might be looking at property values going down here in Hawaii.

Since i did a long essay on Iraq, i'll give a brief comment on the rest.

Syria -- Russia was propping up President Bashar al-Assad against the Syrian rebels who wanted a free country, not one controlled by the dictator in power.  If Russia is going to arm and support a government killing their own people over a freely elected government, why would we not assist the rebels?  We are the beacon for freedom and liberty.  more democracy in the Middle East is a good thing, don't you agree?

Afghanistan -- I'm still trying to figure out how we got involved in a full blown war there.  It should have been enough to capture Hussein, dismantle Osama Bin Laden's terror network, and let the Afghanis and Taliban work the rest out.  Russia lost there.  From the history I read, everyone whose tried to invade there has failed.  We should have had better objectives and realized a war was unwinnable.

Ukraine -- Russia was the aggressor.  Russia is a member of the UN.  The UN charter makes military violence against another nation, member or not, unlawful.  They were wrong to start the war whether you judge them legally, morally or militarily.  My question is why the UN hasn't  taken strict action against Russia -- economic sanctions, blockades, and other punitive measures.  The US should have been more supportive of peace talks 2 years ago.  Now, not only is Putin committed to winning, he believes he can win.  Peace talks now would appear coming from a position of weakness on Ukraine's side. The only way to convince Putin he can't win is to escalate, and backing a nuclear power into a corner is not a smart move.  It worked in Cuba .... once.  That was a different time and a different set of national leaders.  Biden screwed the pooch by waiting and ramping up Ukraine's military as if they could win.

no info in the article on the payload, if any.  Might have been a warning shot to send a message, "See what we can do?  Next one's going to be for real."

I doubt Ukraine's defense systems can knock a missile down that's coming out of low Earth orbit.   Maybe our Star Wars satellite defense network can?   :geekdanc:

It'll be funny tomorrow when they report it was just North Korea conducting another missile test, but this time with their new ally's assistance.

Quote
Kyiv reported its armed forces have successfully used the Patriot system
to intercept incoming Russian Kinzhal ballistic missiles in 2023. But the
Kinzhal is an air-launched ballistic missile, fired from MiG-fighter jets and
is an easier target than a warhead from an intercontinental ballistic missile.

Remember: Ukraine has only a limited number of Patriot missile defense
systems and batteries. Some cities, like the capital Kyiv, enjoy greater
protection than others.

Launched on a civilian city and no military targets.  And people still think Ukraine is the bad side.

I have zero fears of nuclear war.  It's not going to happen.  Give Ukraine everything they need.   They are the defenders.  They are on the right side of history.

In every instance you listed above, not one was legal under US Constitutional law, morally justified, or consummate to the damage, death, and destruction that resulted from those conflicts.  Furthermore, in the case of Libya, the people there are suffering far worse while Americans are no less safe from so-called "global terrorism"; in Syria, the US empire is still illegally occupying their country militarily, a clear act of war; in Afghanistan, the US empire LOST while the Taliban WON; and in Ukraine, the World is now facing nuclear catastrophe because of the US empire's strategic goal of destroying Russia.

With respect to your opinion that "America is a beacon of freedom and liberty", you just posted and gloated how Hawaiian nationals should just get over the illegal overthrow and illegal annexation of their country depriving Hawaiians of both and then have the nerve to claim the US empire is still trying to foster freedom and liberty to the rest of the World?

My God the hypocrisy; especially when it is the US empire that is leading the World to annihilation just to preserve its global dominance.

War is not fair nor legal or illegal.  It's about doing what it takes to get your side ahead and being strong enough so others don't mess with you.
But that's not the reason why the US empire started the wars it did after WWII.  In each case of US imperial aggression, not one of those nations that suffered was an existential threat to the US empire.  Under your premise, the Soviet Union during the Cold War was the only existential threat to the US empire and the leaders of that era smartly realized that WWIII was not the answer.

Fast forwarding to today, do you think the US empire leading the World to WWIII to maintain its global dominance is justified?

For the sake of every living being on the planet, everyone should pray not.

For the Russian Federation, it clearly appears that they will not accept any more US imperial BS on their borders and will die defending their sovereignty and freedom.

Using Zippz's definition of war, the ICBMs recently used on Ukraine is the last warning to the US empire to stop F__KING around and end its proxy war against them.

I totally agree as all the people living on Hawaii are living on borrowed time.

Well, with everyone facing potential ICBM death, I think it's about time for the de-occupation of Hawaii by the US empire; get its military out of here; and restore of the Hawaiian nation state.

Gotta erase the targets that are now on all of our heads, ASAP.   :shaka:

I'm thinking Russia, by firing that ICBM missile, is close to a check mate.  If they proceed to fire a nuclear weapon at Ukraine, they will win the war.

And it will be a check mate.  NATO nor the US wouldn't (or shouldn't?) be able to respond without killing everyone on this planet.

Which people think Ukraine is the bad side?  I mean, I'm sure there is at least 2 out of 350,000,000 people living in the US. But is there anyone famous or political that thinks Ukraine is bad?

I wonder if they are counting on that no country who is supporting Ukraine would launch nukes on Russia. Cause that means MAD.  Too bad Ukraine gave up their nukes because the US said we would protect them.  Cause they alone would be able to respond if Russia nuked anything.

Parts of the US Constitution have been interpreted through US and international law, treaties, and precedents.  The War Powers Act gives the president the ability to commit troops anywhere, anytime and for any reason for up to 60 days plus and additional 30 for withdrawal if Congress intervenes.  Once Congress approves of the action, he can commit troops for as long as he believes is necessary.

Sounds pretty damn legal to me.
