Nice job of convoluting my initial question and deflecting to avoid answering that question which did not reference Hawaii at all.
Once again, how can you on one side support all of the illegal wars, invasions, and occupations the US empire has partaken in your lifetime against Iraq, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, etc. and condemn the Russians that you feel is doing the same to Ukraine?
You asked an unintelligent, irrational question that made a lot of assumptions about a lot of things unrelated to Ukraine.
I'll indulge you on the Iraq issue, but I'm not going to revisit every US-involved military action in the Middle East for the past 4 or 5 decades.
Iraq violated the restrictions placed on them after they used military force to illegally invade Kuwait. Do you not remember all the times President Clinton gave the order to shoot down Iraqi jets when they violated the UN No-Fly zone? It was an Iraqi jet that hit the USS Stark sitting in the Persian Gulf during the Iran-Iraq war. 37 US Navy personnel died either in the attack of afterward from their injuries. Another 21 were injured but survived.
I was in Saudi Arabia when that happened. We were supposed to be Iraqi allies. Yet, when the ship was hit with 2 missiles, Iraq lied about it several times until the AWACS data proved what really happened. That was May 1987, long before they invaded Kuwait. When I say they, I mean Saddam Hussein who lied saying that the pilot mistook the Stark for an Iranian tanker. Given the Stark's position, the flight path and firing position of the jet, and the fact they never transmitted a radio warning to the ship to identify herself, it was clear they knew it was not an Iranian ship of any kind.
U.S. officials claimed that the Iraqi jet's pilot was not acting under orders from his government and that he was later executed, but an Iraqi Air Force officer later stated that the pilot was not punished and was still alive.
So, we knew Iraq was our enemy, but the attack and lies were causing a breakdown in the alliance. Their invasion into Kuwait was the last straw. After that, the US , through the UN, was allowed to continue hostilities to keep Saddam Hussein coloring inside the lines.
