The number of crimes committed with guns, especially robberies, is also growing.

Vanic said a record number of gun registrations went through during COVID.

“Would be interesting to take a look at, some of these firearms that are being used maybe have been registered within the past couple of years,” he said.

Vanic told the commission he does have a plan to combat the problem.

WTF is 'May have been'? That information is literally available instantly to him. Is he too lazy to type in a serial number? Dumbass has his name signed on a lot of those permits.

It's against the law to own an unregistered gun in HI that was acquired in the last 27+ years.  Surely 100% of the guns used in recent crimes are registered. {/sarc}

What would be "interesting" is whether the REGISTERED OWNER has been arrested for any of these crimes.  One individual on this site seems to believe wholeheartedly that registration records solve gun-involved crimes.

the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

I bet it won’t be to arm the populace, which would probably drop crime down a bit.

The way we select police leaders in Hawaii is stupid.
We should have one Law official, the sheriff that is elected by us, not a
special group of appointed liberals that voluntarily serve on a commission.
I wonder what their agendas are?
I've testified before these people and they are fuking brazen hardcore party members.
I've given up on local gun control schiff, Hopefully courts can read the Constitution.
I'll concentrate on getting rid of bad cops and switching to a elected sheriff mode of policing.
