So mens teams bring in more revenue, but they will have to split their pay to make it equal to the womens team.  I hope the NBA is next. Lebron makes more than the entire WNBA brings in for revenue.

Usually when this is tried, the men take a pay cut while the women may only see a smaller pay bump than they expected.  Basically, the folks deciding salaries splits thedifference.

That's the most logical way they can afford to pay everyone the same:  rob Peter to pay Paula.   :geekdanc:

I wonder which players will have the balls to take a stand and refuse to play (give up their earned paychecks).  The way social justice/the media has been is any player who speaks against this will be deemed sexist and what ever ist/phobe.  The future generations will suffer if no stand is taken now.

It starts with soccer or bonuses, other sports will be next. But I'm sure the NBA has a better PR department than the soccer one does.

Businesses have to pay compensation packages that are competitive with other businesses, or they wind up attracting candidates that are not at the top of their professions.  I foresee more compensation packages geared toward attracting top performers while paying salaries equivalent to their opposite gender counterparts.  A better health plan with no premiums, copays or deductibles, more stock options, higher benefit company-paid insurance policies, and other perks could be included in deals for top performers, since the only metric being argued over right now is salary.

At some point, if everyone gets the same salary as everyone else, the number of people on the payroll will have to be cut.  That's just economics.

This is USSF, not MLS.
USSF is a non-profit. And the women won the World Cup and have been much more successful than the men.
Also the Women’s national team is much more profitable and high profile than than the men have been. They had leverage in this case.
Women will get better salary but may eat it on the FIFA bonuses because they’ll have to share with Men who didn’t even qualify for the World Cup.
And FIFA won’t change their disparity in bonuses between Men and Women.

Kind of a unique situation.

You sure about that?

Private organization can do what they like and it is dumb but scaring us by saying it is socialism is too far in my opinion.

I do have to ask whether the high school boys that beat the women's team will get equal pay as well though...

Luckily, it is illegal for high school athletes to get paid. So win for the womens team.  But even if they did get paid, they would have to split it with the girls team.
