Thanks for the input. Never realized the clips are so flimsy that they will bend out of flatness. I viewed some YT videos that addressed the problem of the clips never retaining the round very well. They would fall out when you handle the clip. So they showed how to tweak the clips so the rounds wouldn't fall out. And then they showed some aftermarket clips that looked beefier and more sturdy.
The speed of reloading with clips is what attracted me to consider a snub 9mm revolver. Still looking for a gun that will go bang when you want it to go bang.
In the General Discussions thread I shared about my P365 not firing because there was too much lube/solvent clogging the striker channel. At least this is what SIG said when I sent it back. My confidence is shaken with the gun, especially when I personally feel I didn't over lube it like SIG claimed.
I think I will still buy a 9mm revolver if I get the chance. I'll look at aftermarket clips also and if they perform well in the gun I will buy a million of them.
"especially when I personally feel I didn't over lube it like SIG claimed." This statement should be "especially when I never lubed the channel".
Learning points: I haven't shot Mrs. CMO's P365XL since we will be function checking it and zero (RDS) in Vegas soon. Since reading your post, I also cleaned the channel. The cloth was slightly black, but no grease in there. She will still carry it because how often does an out of the box gun not go bang? Ranges up there closed on Thanksgiving (when we land), so won't be able to test until Black Friday. Even if gun doesn't go bang, bang, bang (rapid fire), she knows how to malfunction clear and at worst a round or a few will be able to be shot b4 a jam.
Regarding the revolver, they make flat clips that hold the rounds in a row instead of a circle (cylinder). Pro is that you can easily fit this in a pocket since it's flat compared to a speed loader type (great for inside a pants pocket). Con is it takes much longer to reload compared to a speed loader.
IMO a revolver (snub nose) is a boot gun (back up) for the following reasons:
1) Lack of capacity, on average 5-6 rounds. Compared to a 10rd (HI law) mag.
2) Reloading takes much longer for an average person.
3) Recoil management for rapid fire shots is harder
4) Accuracy at more than 15 yards comes into play for the average person
5) Lack of attachments (WML, RDS, etc...)
6) Speed loader is much bulkier than a magazine
The real pro's are as follows:
1) No worry about being out of battery for CQB (end of barrel pressed against something)
2) Jamming is greatly reduced (most likely would affect pocket carry. When shooting from inside your jacket pocket)
In the end, the pro's don't outweigh the cons.
