A nickel at 10 yards with the 365XL is pretty darn good. 5 shot groups?
For the "mag dump", did the string start off at intended POI, then track lower?
Next time, try this sequence. From holster, draw and fire 1 at 7 yards with par time of 3 seconds. Then shoot 2 shots, and so on until 6 shots total. Trying to keep even cadence in a given string. Check your work after each string. Goal should be keep hits within IPSC A-Zone, or say challenge yourself with a 6" diameter circle. If you can do 6 shots in 3 second par time, decrease to 2 seconds or less. That way, you're getting in good reps with each string for your "mag dumps".
2 groups of 3 shots. Had 1 flyer that was me and not the gun. So "close enough", "I don't live life that hard" -MSD quote.
For mag dump, I was aiming center mass and it all was lower. So I'm pressing trigger too hard when mag dumping due to excitement if we can call it that. I know what I can do for slow fire, so this is 1 area that I need to correct. Esp since this 4 inches low will amplifly at further distances. But to be fair, I don't mag dump at 25 yards, cause no way I'm hitting the target. I know my limits. When I say mag dump, I'm talking like 10 rds in 2 seconds or just under that.
So with the above being done, I'm confident even when not shooting since mid September that I can pass the CCW qual with my Shield that's a smaller and on paper, less accurate than the VP9.
What I did learn and which is why I don't like precision shooting (300+yards), is that I don't have the patience due to boredom and caffeine to slow fire. I hated zeroing our guns. Which is why I only did 2 strings each. So "close enough". Then just mag dumping with Mrs. CMO's P365XL to function test since we haven't shot it yet. So mag dumping 150rds FMJ and 50rds Gold Dot 124 gr. I got bored and also understood the capability of the gun and myself. So no sense to continue to slow fire that gets repeated results.
Plus Mrs. CMO was waiting in the lobby at Range 702 for me to finish, so I didn't want her waiting too long.
After shooting the XL, I didn't notice the mush trigger at all, which is the same with the P320. Only during dry fire is it noticeable. With that being said, I like the XL better than the Shield. It just looks cooler.
Also CCWing a smaller gun is noticeably different than the VP9 (AIWB each). Especially when sitting. The VP9 digs into right above where my shaft begins, and the WML on the VP9 goes along side, touching the shaft. The smaller Shield doesn't have this issue of any digging in while seated. Also I have no WML on the shield. And the weight difference even with the side car mag is noticeable. The shield set up is much lighter.
The shitty part are the metal clips I have on the Tier1 holster. Metal is slimmer than plastic clips, but also latch on way more and can damage a leather belt if not careful when donning and doffing. This is my polo shirt tucked into slacks set up, so I need to be more concealed with the thinner metal clips. So I may buy another Tier1 sidecar later and have this as my plastic clips for all other wardrobes once HI issues CCW's. Or a non sidecar for when I carry at the 4 oclock, which I prefer in HI and not in Vegas due to leaning forward at the craps tables all day and a 4 oclock hold would print lots.
This was my first time CCWing the Shield and it's set up.
I did notice the RDS sits right above my pants button. I cannot lower the pistol because then it wouldn't be able to get my fingers around the grip when drawing since it would then sit flush with my belt. Now that I have carried it for a few days, I can understand the potential lint issue.
