OWB holster and CCW

With CCW permits (hopefully) being issued in the near future in Hawaii, would a OWB holster covered by a shirt or jacket constitute as CCW?  Asking as I find IWB a little uncomfortable…

Concealed Carry can be in many configurations.

IWB
OWB
Pocket holster
Off-body (purse, briefcase, organizer, fanny pack)
Shoulder holster (Make my day!)
Ankle holster
Bra holster (Flashbang is a popular brand)

As long as the firearm and holster are 100% concealed and do not "print" (forms an outline beneath your clothing that's obviously a firearm), I think it's acceptable.  Some states are more strict about printing,  i.e. it's considered brandishing in some places and could be a chargeable offense.  If I have to guess, I'd bet HI will lean on the side of strict .

My Front Sight 5-Day defensive handgun class required that we take the final test with our firearms concealed.  I used an OWB holster and a jacket covering it.  You could wear a tucked-in T-shirt and have a button-up shirt untucked, sports vest (511 has a popular one), sweater, sweatshirt, or any other outer garment doing the concealing.

So, use some common sense.  Have a family member or friend try to tell if you're carrying.  If they see nothing, you're good.

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

I'm going to try and see if a Talon leather pocket holster will work for me.

That would be fine.  Choose a OWB holster specifically made for concealed carry, one that sits close to the body, conformal, and rides a bit higher on the belt.

Competition and tactical type holsters are usually bulkier, sit lower, and is spaced away from the body a bit making them difficult to conceal.

Go old school and run a leather shoulder holster :)

I usually wear button down shirts with cotton or under armor wicking shirts anyways since I was in middle school.

I still am pulled toward fanny packs.   Picked up up a Galco IWB holster, but not been back to Arizona to try wearing it.

Good thing about the fanny pack in Hawaii is I see a lot of tourists using them.   Wife nags me to carry my cell phone, so that might make it easier.

What to do with it at the gym is still an issue.  Would feel funny wearing a fanny pack inside.

I carried a full size G17 and spare magazine in Alaska in a Fanny pack, and it was fine.

Whenever they issue us permits here in Hawaii, I plan on giving Fanny pack carry another try, so that maybe I can carry a tourniquet and quikclot and a few other basic medical supplies on my body. Rather than just keeping med supplies in the car.

I may try the Fanny Pack option as I currently carry one now.  Not sure if my G19 3rd gen will fit adequately.

Also have a Shoulder Holster (as a child of the 80s I watched  lot of Miami Vice lol....)but may be too hot to wear a Jacket or even a shirt to cover..  At least for now.

The Talon Holster arrived yesterday and I'm trying it out now at home.  Pocket holsters are slower in my opinion to draw but I like the idea of it being more secure and less chance of someone sneaking up and grabbing it from a typical OWB holster.

It's very comfortable while walking, standing, bending over, and sitting.  Just gotta practice to smooth out and speed up the draw process.
