Body Cams for Civilians

Is there such a thing?

Something more indiscreet that a normal citizen can wear.  In situations of self-defense whether unarmed or armed it would help in case of litigation or assault charges.

If there is such a thing where someone can get one?

I see them all over Amazon but don’t know if they can be trusted. Looked on Axon’s website and saw nothing about selling to civilians

More indiscreet?  Or more discreet?

Covert?  Hidden?  Less noticeable?

I see a couple that I might be interested in.  Thanks!

Seems like these things are readily available.  Never thought this.  Should have searched before starting this thread.

There are lots of small wearable cameras but honestly I don't see spending the money on them. Not only do you have to be wearing them at the moment someone chooses to attack you also have to have the wherewithal to activate it, not something easy to do under great stress. Even then are you going to ask the robber to wait while you turn it on? You could get the type thats always recording but is it would the couple hundred.

There is a camera that attaches onto a firearm and turns on automatically when the firearm is drawn, that would probably make more sense in a firearm self defense situation.

Don't give HI lawmakers ideas.

CA already has the bill in place for Lawgiver type of encoding once it's invented.

Also OP, don't rely solely on HPD bodycams either. As the files can be muted, lost, or damaged.  It's very easy to miss place a file. All you gotta do is mislabel it. Like 1 digit off or so. Also HPD is allowed to mute conversations between officers when they release the vid. Unlike other acencies/counties who cannot do this. So you get to see what they're talking about amongst themselves. 1 YT channel that goes over police interactions is Lack Luster. Another good one is Audit the Audit. Many convo's between LEO's are not muted, all depends on the agency/law. He even went over how LEO's "cannot locate" the AXOM footage.

There was a recent police shooting where the officer had one of these cameras. It was a little more bouncy but gave a different view and wasn't blocked by arms.

If you are in a self defense situation using force on someone trying to hurt you a cop probably isn't there recording it so it wouldn't make sense to rely on police body cams.
