Actually, if HPD ever allows CCW, I wouldn't be surprised if they set one of us up for a confrontation and hope we do something stupid that'll turn the public sheep against CCW harder than Coco Gotaboto in a boys locker room.

I agree with the "abuse it, lose it" theory -- for the individuals that abuse it.  Punishing everyone who did nothing wrong because of others' bad acts is about as wrong as anything can be.

Historically, the US doesn't see anywhere near the number of CCW holders committing crimes as we do people without permits.  I'd also wager the number of times a CCW holder protects themselves or others from a threat far exceeds the number of times a CCW holder commits a violent crime.

We know the people with issued permits (excluding Constitutional Carry) have passed a thorough background check, have no history of criminal convictions or domestic violence, and normally had to demonstrate proficiency with their firearm.  Given that, if I had to choose from a pool of strangers who I'd trust to follow the law, it's the CCW holders.  I know nothing about the non-permit-holders other than they don't legally carry.

I believe I read somewhere that CCW holders commit crimes at 1/6th the rate of Police officers. Making CCW holders one of the safest and most law abiding demographic there is.

I'd recommend having a cellphone, fanny pack, or other square-ish object on your waste and gun in pocket.  Then, if someone wants to be nosy about what you're "printing" or flashing under your shirt, tell them pound sand.  When the cops are called, ask them to ask the "witness" what she saw -- exactly.

Enough false reports, and the 911 operators will put those calls in the "who's not on break?" list.

Making sure you wear a slightly larger than normal shirt that isn’t form fitting, as well as being mindful of your movements while carrying and how your gun could potentially be seen can prevent this. If the law is strict/ stupid enough that printing can land you in legal trouble, you should probably be mindful of what you wear anyway. It’s up to us as gun owners/ carriers to be proactive and cogniscent of our lifestyle and assume that we’ll be scrutinized for simply having/ carrying a gun. But sucks Karens and wimps alike freak out over something they don’t understand and don’t care enough to try to understand
